Reddit user Young_Person_42 recently shared a screenshot from theirLegend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomadventure in which the map is focused on the Crystal Refinery next to Lookout Landing. Hinting that they have only been utilizing theZelda: Tears of the KingdomGreat Sky Islandrefinery, Young_Person_42 stated that they “completely” missed the key NPC after 105 hours of playtime which can be enough to defeat the storyline. Because of just how much time the player had invested in the open-world game, they could have missed the NPC entirely if they were speedrunning.
With other players chiming in, some forgot about the Great Sky Island Crystal Refinery once they made it to Hyrule. The firstZelda: Tears of the KingdomCrystal Refinerymost players will come across is on the Great Sky Island, while the Lookout Landing one is on the primary landmass and is easier to access as a result. Given that returning toZelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s Great Sky Island to access a refinery likely chipped into their gameplay, some of the 105 hours may have been spent fast traveling back and forth.
Although someBreath of the Wildfans originally speculated that the repeated use of Hyrule’s map would make for a less enticing landscape, this discovery shows just how vastthe open world ofZelda: Tears of the Kingdomis. While Young_Person_42 has confirmed that they took over 100 hours to find this Crystal Refinery, it’s currently unclear how far along in the story they are.
