However, the main disadvantage is that it cannot disable any enemy’s ultimate ability, thus lowering its efficacy in combat.
The EMP Grenade can be useful when used correctly; however, compared to the other alternatives in the game, it fails to make the cut. First and foremost, it is not fatal, making it less effective than its fatal counterparts. Furthermore, momentarily blocking the enemy’s abilities may seem appealing, but in a fast-paced battle, this may not be as effective as the player expects.
Even if the EMP grenade hits an opponent, it could have no impact if the enemy has not used any abilities or devices.
4Sticky Grenade
Best Used With Precision
The Sticky Grenade is one of the most powerful weapons in the game, but players need to be highly accurate to achieve something from it. The Sticky Grenade, like the Frag Grenade, causes area damage. The main distinction between these two devices is that the Sticky Grenade does not bounce off any surface; instead, it attaches itself to the first surface it hits and explodes after a set amount of time.
This device’s sticking mechanism requires a high level of targeting and precision. While the throwable may go a long distance, landing it in the proper place may prove difficult for many players.
Unlike the Frag Grenade, which can be readily flung over walls and structures to target a specific location, the sticky grenade works best when thrown in an open area within the players' line of sight. It may effectively damage enemies inside objective locations ingame modessuch as Occupy, Domination, and Zone Control.
3Proximity Mine
Cover Flanks
The Proximity Mine is an explosive device that detonates when an opponent steps into its range. This device will fire a charge at head height and detonate when activated. While the Proximity Mine charge will kill a standing opponent, any enemy crouching before the device bursts may survive with significant damage.
The device works well withsniper loadoutssince it may assist players in protecting their flanks or any location from which enemies may emerge. Aside from shielding flanks, putting the Proximity Mine in key areas or enemy approaches toward an objective site may substantially damage the other team and make mobility much more difficult.
However, the Proximity Mine’s lack of mobility and efficiency in fierce gunfights is why it ranks third on the list. Unlike the other devices in the game, the Proximity Mine is only appropriate for passive-playing factions such asPhantomsorLibertad, as it can only be used in defensive scenarios. On the other hand, while rushing or attacking a site, the Proximity Mine is often rendered worthless. It is almost impossible to hurl this device into an opposing site due to its low projectile and the extra time necessary to launch.
2Flashbang Grenade

The Flashbang Grenade was difficult to put second because it is just as useful as the first-place submission. The Flashbang Grenades, as the name indicates, generate a flash effect that disorients opponents both visually and aurally. With theY1S1.0 update, the visual impact of this device has been made more disorienting for players, causing their characters to go blind and freezing their game screen for a while.
The Flashbang Grenade works best withSMG loadoutsand factions that play aggressively, such as theCleanersor Echelons. In objective-based game modes such as Occupy or Domination, where most enemies concentrate on protecting or attacking a location, a well-thrown Flashbang Grenade can catch opponents off guard and expose them to the player’s attacks.
The device takes less time to throw than the others, allowing players to immediately toss it into an objective location. Once the flash takes place, a blind eye symbol appears on the screen, indicating that the enemies are blind and defenseless. Players and their teammates can quickly launch a coordinated attack to reclaim using such scenarios. Aside from team set play, an individual player may use this device to eliminate many foes and clear a site easily.
1Frag Grenade
Explosive Area Damage
The Frag Grenade is unquestionably the best device in XDefiant, excelling in nearly every aspect. It has the ideal projectile arc, making throwing and aiming at a target simple. It also deals area damage and may defeat numerous enemies at once if thrown in the right position.
While not the quickest, the Frag Grenade has a reasonable throw time, allowing players to target an objective location or opponent groups quickly. While the Frag Grenade might not look too fancy, it is the ideal weapon for use in all scenarios and with every faction in the game.
To benefit the most from this device, players must be somewhat accurate. Factions likeEchelon, which rely heavily on intelligence obtained through their skills, can use the Frag Grenade to clear areas on the battlefield where attackers are holding or may spawn. Furthermore, because the device may bounce off surfaces and walls before exploding, players can exploit this mechanism to bounce it from the walls to within an enemy team-controlled objective site, clearing an area of the site without exposing themselves to the enemies.
