The trailer starts in a magical-looking world with a voice-over that explains that the heroes in the world must team up to reverse some kind of calamity that has befallen the land. The trailer itself is a quick one, clocking in at around a minute and a half, mostly just showing off thebeautiful cel-shaded world, the cool-looking creatures, and the co-op, beat ’em-up fighting style of the game. After the showcase, xbox.com released an interview with lead combat designer Isaac Torres and principal game designer Alex Thomas. In the interview, both designers stressed thedifference betweenThe Banner SagaandTowerborne, promising that this game won’t be a “depression simulator.” More details about the title revealed that it’s a rouge-like game, a subgenre where the player dies and respawns, maintaining some type of currency along the way. InTowerborne, the player will be known as an “Ace,” a hero that doesn’t just die and respawn but also remembers how they died, and that knowledge becomes part of the story. The designers also reveal that the game is considered a seasonal one, promising to add new things in future updates.

WithTowerborne, Stoic is looking to create a family-friendly experience with a low-skill floor but a high-skill ceiling.
