Xbox Game Passhas been busy this week, adding two new games on January 16, revealing new games coming later this month and in February, and also confirming a new day-one Xbox Game Pass title for some time this year:Frostpunk 2. This highly anticipated sequel follows the originalapocalyptic survival city-builder gameand asks a dangerous question in a frozen wasteland: what’s next? The biggest external threats are gone, and only internal ones remain.
According toIGN,Frostpunk 2is one of the most wish-listed games on Steam alongsidetitles likeHades 2andHollow Knight: Silksong. In many ways,Frostpunk 2eclipses its predecessor by becoming a society builder instead of a city builder, and it’s clearFrostpunk 2will be jam-packed with hard decisions to make about humanity’s future.

PC gamers will be able to make those decisions themselves whenFrostpunk 2releases sometime in the first half of 2024, and they’ll be able to play itday one on Xbox Game Pass. Given its popularity, this is a huge get for Game Pass since players will be able to check it out just at the cost of their subscription. What’s more,Frostpunk 2will release on Xbox Series X/S sometime after the PC launch, and it’ll also be available there day one on Xbox Game Pass. It’s worth noting that the game is also coming to PS5.
Of course, fans have a bit of a wait on their hands becauseFrostpunk 2does not have a proper release date yet. There’s plenty in the meantime, though.Xbox Game Pass still has plenty of games coming in January 2024:Turnip Boy Robs a Bank, F1 23, Palworld, Go Mecha Ball, andBrotato
After all, it was easy to justify hard decisions in the firstFrostpunkbecause it was either submit or freeze. It’s not that simple inFrostpunk 2where players must navigate the social landscape of various developments, factions, thoughts, laws, and ideals. Every faction wants a bright future, but that future is different for every school of thought.Frostpunk2 forces players to face the idea that the greatest threat to humanity is humanity. It’s not just about the wasteland surrounding the city, but the wasteland within it socially.
