Among the many playable characters in the original roster ofWuthering Waves, Taoqi stands out as one of the most unique in terms of playstyle. She is slow and a little cumbersome, but, on top of being a capable shielder, she can deal excellent damage if played correctly.

Although Taoqi isn’t ranked as high compared toother Resonators inWuthering Waves, she’s far from terrible. There’s a bit of a learning curve involved, but any player who digs their teeth into her playstyle can get a lot of value from this character. Here’s a short guide showcasing basic info on Taoqi, including tips on how to use her properly.

How To Play Taoqi In Wuthering Waves

Taoqi is a defensive specialist who is somewhat similar toYuanwu inWuthering Waves. Both characters scale off DEF, but Taoqi further emphasizes her role as a protector by having a kit that mainly focuses on blocking and parrying. As such, she works best as a quick swap character.

Taoqi’s job is to provide a shield to the player’s on-field character and to parry incoming attacks before retaliating with strong counter-attacks. Her DPS is poor compared to other units, but she makes up for it by having strong burst damage with her Forte Circuit and Resonance Liberation.

Low-level Taoqi stats in Wuthering Waves

When playing as Taoqi, you’ll want to follow this specific cadence:

Resolving Caliberis the name of Taoqi’s Forte Gauge, and it represents how many empowered hits she can do when her heavy attack parries a hit (or after she holds her heavy attack for three seconds). This is where the brunt of her damage comes from, and whenever Taoqi’s on the field, getting and unleashing three stacks of Resolving Caliber should be your goal.

Discord, one of the best weapons for Taoqi in Wuthering Waves

Fill up your Concerto Energy whenever applicable before swapping Taoqi out. Doing so will give aResonance Skill DMG Deepeneffect on your next on-field character, which is perfect for units like Danjin and Calcharo.

Best Taoqi Build

Taoqi is a slow and methodical character. She doesn’t hit quite as quickly asWuthering Waves’main character Rover, nor does she hit as hard as someone like Calcharo. However, she can be very tanky when fully built, and her burst damage isn’t bad either if you use the right weapons and Echoes.

Weapon

Discordis great for quick swap Broadblade users, and it is arguably the most ideal weapon for Taoqi so far. Its passive effect allows its user to regenerate more Concerto Energy whenever they trigger their Resonance Skill. Using this weapon means Taoqi will be able to rotate more quickly and more often, though it’ll cost her some damage since Discord doesn’t provide any bonus DEF or crit stats.

Keep in mind that Taoqi doesn’t benefit from ATK as much compared to other Resonators, which means eventhe best weapons inWuthering Waveswon’t be as valuable for her. Apart from her basic attack and Intro Skill, all parts of her kit scale via Taoqi’s DEF.

An Echo from the Moonlit Clouds set in Wuthering Waves

Echo Set

Players can go with either theMoonlit CloudsorRejuvenating GlowEcho Sets for Taoqi. Both allow her to further buff her next teammate’s damage output, and since her entire playstyle revolves around swapping in and out of combat, you’ll be able to get plenty use out of these set bonuses.

For stats, focus on getting the following:

For her active Echo, consider usingthe Bell-Borne Geochelone. When cast, it will reduce the damage taken by the on-field character while simultaneously increasing the damage they themselves deal. Taoqi doesn’t rely much on Echo active skills, so feel free to change this for anything else that you prefer.

Skill Priorities

Since much of Taoqi’s value comes from her empowered basic attacks from perfectly-timed parries, leveling up her Forte Circuit first is the obvious choice. Follow this up with her Skill for better healing/shielding and Liberation for more burst damage.Getting Taoqi’s Wavebandswill boost her power considerably, though you’ll be fine even without them.
