Every week, more fans were invited to take a first look at some of the content coming in the expansion, including the streamlined Skyriding feature, the continent of Khaz Algar, and even anew racial trait for Humans inWorld of Warcraft.
Now,World of Warcraftis about to begin the beta forThe War Within. Starting June 5, players will begin to receive invites to test out the zones, Delves, andDungeons available inThe War Withinbeta, as well as the new Hero Talent trees, Earthen playable race, and Warbands features. Fans who do not want to leave their invite up to chance can secure their place in the testing by pre-purchasing theWorld of Warcraft: The War WithinEpic Edition for $90, which grants guaranteed beta access, plus a three-day head start once the expansion releases.
When Is the World of Warcraft: The War Within Beta?
When players who haven’t purchased theEpic Edition are chosen for theWorld of Warcraft: The War Withinbeta, they will receive an email informing them of their selection, and directing them towards the Battle.net client. From there, fans can chooseThe War WithinBeta from the Game Versions drop-down menu, install the client, and begin their adventures. The email does not require players to verify any information – their launcher is updated automatically to include the beta client install option – so any messages claiming otherwise may be phishing attempts.
As a major milestone towards the release of aWorld of Warcraftexpansion,The War Withinbeta may provide hints as to when the full launch will happen. Historically, beta tests start about three or four months before the expansion drops, with the Pre-Patch event happening one month before the release. If it follows precedent,World of Warcraftfans might seeThe War WithinPre-Patcharound August 20 – the day afterWoW Remix: Mists of Pandariaends – and the expansion’s launch somewhere between September 17 and October 1.
