When it was originally released on June 20th, 2006,Naxxramas was the pinnacle of raidinginWorld of Warcraft. In addition to being the final 40-man raid released in the game, Naxxramas was easily one of the hardest raids in the game that only a handful of guilds managed to beat before the release ofThe Burning Crusade. Because of how few players set foot in the raid, let alone beat it, Blizzard decided to update Naxxramas to be a launch raid for the Wrath of the Lich King expansion.
While the changes made to Naxxramas allowed significantly more players to beat it, many of the original items and recipes that could be obtained were lost to time. But with the release of Patch 10.1.5, some of those lost items and recipes (excludingthe Legendary weapon Atiesh, of course) have returned as a secret forWorld of Warcraftplayers to unlock.

How to Start
Before players can unlock the lost secrets of Naxxramas, they must first complete a hidden objective to unlock the old version of a dungeon known as Scholomance. Once this is done, go to the small side room where Eva’s Journal is. Right click and read it to enter the old version of Scholomance.
Find the Cracked Argent Dawn Commission
Once inside the dungeon, go down to where Rattlegore lurks. At the top of one of the bone piles on the left side of the room, there is a small object that can be picked up called Cracked Argent Dawn Commission. This item can be repaired by gathering one Righteous Orb from Stratholme, and four Truesilver Bars. Truesilver bars can be created by Miners or purchasedon the Auction House. Alchemists can also transmute Mithril Bars into Truesilver Bars.
After the Cracked Argent Dawn Commission has been repaired, it can be equipped in the trinket slot. Make sure to equip it, and then go down to the Headmaster’s Study of Scholomance and kill Darkmaster Gandling. In order to make Darkmaster Gandling spawn, players will fist need to get the Viewing Room key from Rattlegore and then kill all the bosses in the side rooms of the Headmaster’s Study.
Loot Darkmaster Gandling to receive an item called Darkmaster’s Scourgestone. This Epic quality item starts a quest. For this quest, go to Light’s Hope Chapel in the Eastern Plaguelands and give the Scourgestone to Duke Nicholas Zverenhoff.Keep the Argent Dawn Commission equipped.While this may seem like a dead end, completing this quest allows players to start the next part of this secret.
Empower the Commission
Go through the main entrance for the Stratholme dungeon in Eastern Plaguelands. Keep an eye out for boxes that can be looted and pick up at least one Stratholme Holy Water. Start killing groups of enemies with AoE attacks to hit an invisible enemy known as the Eye of Naxxramas. Upon being aggroed, this enemy will yell: “The living are here!”.
While searching for the Eye of Naxxramas, do not go through the gate to the east that leads to the undead section. Doing so prior to getting and using the Ward of Naxxramas will mess up next step and players will have to reset the dungeon to proceed.
Upon killing this invisible enemy, players will be able to loot a Ward of Naxxramas. Go west toward the cathedral. While facing the entrance to the cathedral, look to the left to spot a closed gate.
Approach it and use the Ward of Naxxramas to make a small crystal appear. Right-click on the Stratholme Holy Water and aim it as shown in the image above. If the Stratholme Holy Water hits the stone, players will gain a five minute debuff.
Kill Aurius Rivendare
In order to progress, players must kill Aurius Rivendarewhile they still have the debuff which expires after five minutes.Having some means of increasing movement speed is essential to complete this part in time. If players are struggling, this is much easier to do as a Feral Druidor as a Demon Hunter.
In order to reach Aurius Rivendare, players must disable all three ziggurats and then kill all the enemies outside the building where Aurius Rivendare awaits. Once Aurius Rivendare is dead, quickly run out the building and go right toward the now open gate. On the other side is a closed gate with an enemy casting a spell.
Once players get close enough, they will have the option to use the Argent Dawn Comission to kill the enemy. By this point, players will have less than 30 seconds left on the debuff. If players manage to kill this enemy before the debuff expires, they will see an emote in the chat window.
Talk to Archmage Angela Dosantos
Return to Light’s Hope Chapel, and speak to Archmage Angela Dosantos who is sitting to the right of the entrance to the chapel. This will activate a quest. She agrees to empower the Argent Dawn Commission, but depending on what rank players are with the Argent Dawn it may cost some materialsand some gold. The amount needed to complete this quest is as follows based on reputation.
Being exalted is the best way to complete this quest. So if players need more reputationwith the Argent Dawnto reach exalted, they can do so by running both Scholomance and Stratholme repeatedly. At this point, players will no longer need to have the Argent Dawn Comission equipped.
Once this quest is complete, head to the location depicted in the image above to see a floating crystal. Interacting with it will transport players into a special version of 10-man/25-man Naxxramas, which allows players to go after the recipes and resources that await within.
