At 26:30 during the recording of the interview, MrGM asked Hazzikostas about the rumors surrounding a third specialization for Evokers. Plenty of evidence indicated thenew class fromDragonflightcould be getting a third specializationfor support or tanking, from datamined voice lines to spells and abilities. Hazzikostas responded to the question by confirming there would be no such specialization in Patch 10.1, but that “anything is possible in the future.”

Hazzikostas went on to say that some datamined assets are vestiges of cut content in an attempt to explain away the discovered spells. But, he later went on to say he “could definitely see us playing with [adding specializations] in general down the line.” While at first glance this answer may seem discouraging, as MrGM himself stated in chat during the interview playback: “I didn’t hear a no.” Based on previousinterviews with Hazzikostas and otherWorld of Warcraftdevelopers, the absence of a definitive answer can be quite telling.

Players are excited about the implications of Hazzikostas’ comments during the interview. While Evokers are not going to get a secret third spec withEmbers of Neltharion, the fact that he didn’t deny there was one in the pipeline indicates they might be working on one right now. What’s more, sayingWorld of Warcraftis open to experimenting with this idea in general opens the door to tons of other possibilities, such as a third specialization forDemon Hunters inWoWor a fourth spec for existing classes, like an earth-themed tanking Shaman or a Rogue that heals by throwing potions and tonics.

Some leaked cutscenes surrounding the setting ofDragonflightPatch 10.2 indicate a big change on the horizon for Night Elves, and a new developer build forWoW Classicindicates the first major update could be coming to the nostalgic servers since Season of Mastery.
