A cool idea that could be considered forHades 2would be a boss fight against the first game’s protagonist, Zagreus. While Melinoë’s adventure doesn’t seem like one that would put her on a collision course with the prince of the Underworld, there is plenty of potential that could come from the two doing battle with each other. Considering that fans of the last game already know that Zagreus is a formidable combatant, there are already several ways that a fight with him could play out. Such a battle could potentially be a highlight ofHades 2.

A change in leads seesMelinoë asHades 2’s new protagoniston her own quest. Instead of battling against Hades to escape from the Underworld the way that Zagreus was, Melinoë is on a quest to save him from the titan Cronos. Although their quests are quite different, the setup from both games appears to be the same. Melinoë has her own arsenal of weapons, albeit one that seems quite different from Zagreus', and the levels she will be fighting through appear to share the same design direction to those from the first game, making it a game that fans can dive right into.

Zagreus and Melinoë Could Have An Excellent Duel in Hades 2

Even though it has yet to be explained whatZagreus' potential role inHades 2could be, there are a few decent ideas that could be put to use. One is that he could be on a quest similar to Melinoë’s, albeit using his own gear. The two of them could encounter each other late in the game and do battle to see which of the two is strong enough to face Cronos. Alternatively, Zagreus could be an optional or postgame boss for the player to fight for bonus rewards. That way, the mood of the encounter could be more challenging than tense.

A boss fight with Zagreus as the opponent is surprisingly easy to imagine. WhileHades 2can offer new builds and weapons, Zagreus still has his familiar arsenal from the first game. His sword, spear, bow, shield, gauntlets, and rifle all had the potential to be built into powerful weapons during a player’s run, and they could all pose a threat to the player inHades 2. Likewise, it looks like a few new gods may be available to assist Melinoë inHades 2. That could mean that any gods exclusive to the first game could have their blessings used by Zagreus in a fight.

There is another interesting idea that could potentially be used as part of a Zagreus boss battle. Evenif Zagreus isn’t playable inHades 2, players will still have had a chance to play through his first adventure. For that reason, a way for the game to interact with data from the first game could be a fun addition. If the player has save data from the first game, then perhaps they could fight against a Zagreus who is equipped with a build from one of their completed runs. That would be a rewarding challenge that could also propose a unique situation of the players essentially fighting against themselves.

Zagreus probably isn’t going to be one of Melinoë’s foes during her journey, but he could have a lot to offer as a boss fight. WhileHades 2may take a different story direction, the core gameplay should put Melinoë and Zagreus on relatively even ground. Plus, with Zagreus being such a well-liked character, him making an appearance would probably be warmly received, especially if he makes a good showing in the sequel. By letting Melinoë and Zagreus go blade-to-blade,Hades 2could show why both are the Underworld’s most impressive warriors.
