Let’s be honest, once a player unlocks Hyper Mode inVampire Survivors, they usually don’t go back. Hyper Mode becomes the default method of play, with player’s rarely ever going back to the slow Normal Mode unless they’re testing out some build or character for the first time.

Vampire Survivors - Selecting The Inlaid Library Map On Hyper Mode

So, for those who just unlocked this setting, or for those who are struggling with the last few minutes of it, let’s look at some of the best tips for getting through Hyper Mode inVampire Survivors.

8Play On Inlaid Library

While it might sound silly to recommend playing on a specific map as a tip for beating something, Inlaid Library really is so much easier compared to Mad Forest and especially the more recent Green Acres. There are a couple of key reasons for this

So, if the goal is purely just to finish a run on Hyper Mode, Inlaid Library is the best bet.

7Leveling Early Matters

Again, this might seem like a silly tip (and an obvious one), but Inlaid Library has a real lull in enemy spawns around the seven or eight-minute mark where enemies are less plentiful and harder to kill. But, if players grab an early Crown and upgrade it once or twice then spend their extra levels on weapons with tons of damage, this lull is much easier to put up with.

Plus, the Crown really helps out in the grind for Coins to purchase more Power-Ups outside of runs, as the game starts offering constant Coin rewards instead of upgrades once the player has upgraded all their weapons and items to max.

6Always Save A Chest Or Two

If they have Hyper Mode unlocked, it’s almost guaranteedthat the player is no longer a beginnerand has used an Evolved Weapon at this point. But, for those who don’t know, the Evolved Weapons are where a lot of the build diversity comes from inVampire Survivors.Basically, if a player has a certain Weaponand a certain Accessory Item, and their Weapon is at eight upgrades (which is the max), the next chest opened has a high percentage of granting them the Evolved version of that weapon. For example, Candelabrador + Axe (at level eight) equals the Death Spiral scythe.

Now, a lot of the fun of Hyper Mode comes from being ableto get to these Evolved Weaponsfaster and see them at essentially two times speed. So, while grabbing the first or even second Chest drop makes sense, try and leave the next Chest spawn alone until an Evolved combo is ready to trigger.

5Don’t Worry About Chasing Bosses

One of the oddly obvious, yet commonly misunderstood systems inVampire Survivorsis the system in which Bosses are always nearby. The enemies on screen, including bosses, tend to “wrap back around” to the other side of the screen if the player character goes too far in any direction. Think of it like going off-screen in Pac-Man, as the little yellow guy pops up on the left side of the screen whenever he goes off of the right side.

So, while playing Hyper Mode, don’t worry too much about taking out the Boss as soon as it spawns, especially if the current build doesn’t have too much damage yet. The Boss will keep following the player, so eventually, it’ll get killed regardless.

4Keep A Close Eye On Your Health

The default mode ofVampire Survivorsis a ton of fun, but one a player understands the core loop of it, it’s easy to play it while multitasking. Whether it’s watching a YouTube video on a second monitor, or maybe even a streamer reading chat while playing,Vampire Survivorsis absolutely a game that can be played semi-passively (up until the last few minutes).

But, for the most part, this isn’t the case with Hyper Mode, at least not past the eight or so minute mark. Because enemies swarm faster and hits faster, an unaware player can get killed just by looking away for a second. So, unless there’s a full Laurel build going on, keep a close on that health bar, and try not to go too crazy with the Curse PowerUp upgrades.

3Try To Get A Bit Of Pushing Power

Next up is a tip that applies primarily to Inlaid Library, but this matters in Mad Forest as well. Basically, there are a fair number of weapons inVampire Survivorsthat push enemies back when they hit them. The most obvious example is the King Bible, but the Fire Wand, Whip, Lightning Ring, and Axe all push a small amount as well on-hit.

With that in mind, try and include any of these items or figure out a build that can push enemies away on every run. Being able to keep the enemies at a distance really starts to matter in the last couple of minutes of a run, as their HP starts to get astronomically huge. Additionally, Inlaid Library has those self-destructing red ghosts as well, and they can easily wipe a player out who isn’t paying enough attention. And, CC like this is also the only way it even becomes

2Anything Works, But Try Synergies Wherever Possible

This next tip isn’t meant to tell people to playVampire Survivorsin a specific way or follow a build, but it is important to know which Passive Items synergizewith which of the thirty+ unlocks best, especially in Hyper Mode.

For example, if the player is primarily building up their Garlic, there’s no real reason to grab the Spellbinder early, as the “duration” of Garlic is infinite by default. That said, since Spellbinder is the item that Evolves the King Bible, it is worth getting later on. So, a smart player would finish getting their Garlic ready to evolve, obtain the Soul Eater, and then start working on the Unholy Vespers combination of King Bible and Spellbinder.

Basically, this is all just to say that players will find more success if every one of their upgrade choices is forward thinking, rather than just on what they currently need most.

1Moving Around In The Last Few Minutes Is A No-No

Let’s be honest,Vampire Survivorsis a pure dopamine sort of game. While players pick which weapons or items they’ll equip, and they absolutely aim some of their attacks, a lot of the game plays itself. In fact, with the right build, it’s entirely possible to win a run while standing still (mostly). With that in mind, once the screen starts literally filling up with Gorgons or Witches, try not to move around too much.

At this point in the run, enemies are much more resistant to being pushed back, and getting touched for more than a half-second can mean death. Just stay in one area and keep cycling between moving a bit in every direction, no more than a few steps, and this should work the vast majority of the time.
