ASkyrimfan has shown off a great idea that helps players get into the action of the game faster. WhileSkyrim’s introis one of the most famous in gaming history, those who have started a lot of playthroughs of the game might think it’s somewhat long-winded at this point.
Now almost twelve years since its release, gamers have come up with plenty of other solutions to avoid the introduction. Perhaps the most prominent isSkyrim’s Alternate Start mod, which gives players a massive amount of scenarios to choose from, instead of the vanilla introduction. Players can spawn as the Thane of Whiterun or as a fully-fledged member of the Dark Brotherhood, among many other things. At this point, it’s generally considered a must-have for anyone returning to the game. However, this particular solution doesn’t skip the introduction entirely and allows those who play vanillaSkyrimto get into the game much faster.

This solution was posted to Reddit by user GreatGrassy. It’s surprisingly simple - all they do is make a permanent save immediately after the player has stood off the carriage. This skips the lengthy ride and repetitive dialogue and spawns the player immediately beforeSkyrim’s character creator. This means that nothing about the character is set in stone, still allowing for full customization in each subsequent playthrough. It’s the perfect solution for vanilla players, who will then only have to play through the short Alduin escape sequence for the game to get underway.
Others did point out one potential downside to the solution. Some items that the game randomly places at the beginning of a save will always be in the same spot with this method. While it isn’t perfect, some who have seen theSkyrimintroduction plenty of times will see it as a small price to pay.
All of this isn’t to say the introduction is bad - it’s far from it, serving as a great introduction to the world ofSkyrim. But at this point, there aren’t many gamers playing it for the first time, and such a lengthy section is sure to get old eventually. Bethesda has a knack for creating memorable introductions to its games that leave a lasting impression on the player.Fallout 4’s introis another perfect example of this, and the studio will surely be hoping it is able to strike gold once again whenThe Elder Scrolls 6finally releases in the future.
