Summary

IRLTwitchstreamer Jinnytty recently had a run-in with a pickpocket while strolling through the city of Amsterdam. IRL content creators are ideal targets for would-be thieves, considering that they’re often very distracted reading chat and providing commentary. In February, another IRLTwitch streamer called MeesterKeem was also targeted by a pickpocket, though he immediately recovered his wallet.

Jinnytty was one of the most-watched female Twitch streamers in 2022and currently has nearly a million followers on the platform. She’s also been nominated twice for the The Streamer Awards as Best IRL Streamer. Part of the appeal of the South Korean content creator, in addition to occasionally playing games likeHearthstone,is that she takes viewers to different interesting locations. She has streamed from the US, Taiwan, Korea, and various places in Europe like Poland, Norway, and the Netherlands.

While exploring the city of Amsterdam on July 21, Jinnytty stopped for a few minutes to chat with two strangers, whointeracted with her Twitch chatand seemed friendly. Shortly after walking away from them, a third man approached Jinny and said that he had witnessed the two men attempting to pickpocket her while she was distracted. The culprits, said the man, had their hands in Jinny’s bag. The Twitch streamer responded that she doesn’t carry important stuff in her bag, but the man chastised her for looking at her phone the whole time and told her not to film with people. He concluded that Jinny “should learn that kind of stuff” before the content creator thanked him and walked away.

Though the alleged pickpocketing attempt was not visible on camera, Jinny paused for a moment to look through her bag and affirmed that she didn’t think anything had been stolen. Her most valuable possession, she pointed out, is her phone, which is always in her hand and attached to her wrist by a lanyard. “I cannot even talk to people and interact with people peacefully,” theTwitchstreamer said. “I have to worry about people maybe pickpocketing me whenever they’re talking to me?”

Jinny then questioned why pickpocketing was such a widespread problem in Europe, saying that it was difficult to understand as somebody who had grown up in Korea. But this isn’t the first encounter the streamer has had with potential criminals. She has been followed by strangers at least twice on stream, most recently in April 2023 when acreepy man stalked Jinnytty during a Twitch IRL stream in Taiwanfor approximately four hours. He kept his face covered but was occasionally spotted by viewers and was even once caught hiding behind a bush. Jinny grew concerned enough that she eventually asked police officers for help, who detained the unknown man.
