TwitchRival Kick is currently facing a multifaceted backlash from its community, stemming from a number of issues that include the platform’s failure to effectively address harmful and derogatory usernames, accusations of viewbotting by some of its streamers, and more. Launched in December 2022, Kick has caused quite a stir in the streaming world. One of the main waysKick has differentiated itself from other streaming platformslike Twitch is by implementing more relaxed policies, such as allowing gambling streams.
In addition, Kick has been reported to offer better revenue opportunities for its streamers than its competitors, making it an attractive option for content creators looking to earn a living from their streaming. However, despite its successes, Kick has also faced criticism for its handling of certain situations. For example, popularTwitchstreamer Hasan Piker called out Kick for not taking action against Adin Ross, a fellow streamer who had streamed sexually explicit content on the platform.

As the platform ages, issues with Kick’s moderation have become more prevalent. One of the most discussed issues is the platform’s allowance of users to create accounts with harmful phrases. Recently, Kick streamer LtKanada tweeted a screenshot of an account using a racist slur within its username and called out Kick, stating that such usernames should not be allowed. Despite enjoying some of his streams on the platform, LtKanada feels that there are still many things that need to be addressed. He added that no creator should be subjected to harassment on any platform and hopes that improvements will be made.
Kick is also facing backlash due to its ongoing view botting issues, which have beenacknowledged by Trainwreck himself in the past. While he stated that he is trying to resolve the problem, it appears that the issue persists, as highlighted by Twitch streamer CodyRiffs on April 7. Cody was initially impressed by the number of viewers he had on his first Kick stream but was later disappointed to find out that the viewer count on the platform doesn’t mean much. He went on to say that the whole site seems to be plagued by viewbotting, and although it was a nice feeling at first, it ultimately left a bad taste in his mouth.
Kick has also faced significant criticism regarding its handling of username issues. Some streamers have accused Kick of forcing them to change their usernamesto benefit larger streamers. Most recently, streamer Angelina accused Kick of giving her handle to a bigger content creator without her consent, sparking further outrage.
It’s undeniable that these issues need to be addressed promptly, but considering thatKick is still a relatively new platform, criticism can be an opportunity for improvement if taken seriously. By acknowledging and addressing issues like viewbotting and username problems, the platform can strive to create a better experience for its users. Taking feedback into account and implementing changes can not only resolve specific problems but also enhance the overall reputation and success of the platform.
