Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s Zombie Ghost Skin

It was recently revealed thatfans who digitally pre-orderCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3will receive a zombie themed skin for the operator Ghost. The skin sees Ghost turned into a ghastly figure, working well with his already sinister appearance, and has won over a lot of fans who are desperate to use the skin in-game.

Of course, the skin will be available inModern Warfare 3, but is alsousable right now inModern Warfare 2andWarzone 2, with the trio of titles carrying over a lot of multiplayer content between one another. The popularity of the skin can be attributed in part to the upcoming Zombies mode ofModern Warfare 3; players have waited nearly three years since the last Zombies experience inCall of Duty: Vanguard. It has been reported thatMW3zombies will boast the largest ever map for the mode while supporting games with much higher player-counts, and the Zombie Ghost skin is capitalizing on this hype very well.

It is also worth noting thatCall of Dutyhas faced a fair amount of criticism recently for the increasingly bizarre nature of its operator bundles and skins. With recentskins including celebrity crossovers such as Nicki Minajand even a human-sized cat called Sgt. Pspsps, many are calling forCoDskins to become more relevant to the franchise itself. The Zombie Ghost skin perfectly answers these criticisms, as it blends single-player, multiplayer, and Zombies into a single cosmetic.

With this in mind, it seems obvious that Sledgehammer Games should continue the trend to other iconic campaign characters, withTask Force 141 being the perfect next step. Zombie skins for Captain Price and Soap would surely earn the same positive reception, and prominent villains such as Makarov and Graves could get their own Zombie skins down the line.

To match the exclusivity of the Ghost skin, future Zombie skins could be tied to challenges within Zombies itself, maybe even beingrewards for completion ofCoDZombies Easter eggsor community-wide challenges. While it is more likely that these future skins would be instead tied to battle passes, it would be nice to start seeing more tangible in-game rewards inCoDfor completing imposing things like Zombies Easter eggs.

The positive reception ofModern Warfare 3’s content carry-over system withMW2could see some shared contentbetween the game and 2024’sCoD, and the Zombie skin trend could even be carried forward with character’s from 2024’s campaign. The Zombie Ghost skin has created a level of excitement thatCoDcosmetics have not seen in some time, and it should be the start of a long series of similar skins for the future.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3releases November 10 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
