Released in 2020,Hellpointis a sci-fi action RPG set on an expansive space station. Described by many as a soulslike due to its difficulty, emphasis on combat, complex map, and dark, lonely atmosphere,Hellpointis a distinctive title in its own right and brings plenty to the table for both fans of theSoulsbornegames, as well as those with no experience of the series.Related:Hellpoint: Every Firearm, Ranked
Another great aspect ofHellpointis how many secrets the game has, leaving plenty for players to discover as they explore its map. And, there are many things that most players don’t know they can do inHellpoint.

8Break Certain Wooden Walls With Heavy Attacks
In a manner not unlike Dark Souls, there are walls scattered around the map inHellpointthat players can actually break in order to explore what they’re guarding or blocking from view.
If players notice a wooden wall that looks suspicious, they can use a heavy attack on it to see if it will break. The game also features an online mode, wherein players leave messages next to these walls to point them out. Certain weak-looking wooden walls will actually shatter, leaving a gap that players can walk through to explore. Sometimes this will lead players to new gear or secrets, the latter of whichHellpointhas a massive number waiting to be discovered.

7Use Roaches To Find Hidden Ledges And Other Objects
In Hellpoint, players can use an item called Quantum Light, which has the appearance of a purple torch.
While it might seem relatively innocuous at first, more observant players will find that Quantum Light is actually a very useful tool.

There are cockroaches scattered around the map inHellpoint, and players can actually use Quantum Light near these to discover hidden ledges or other objects that are concealed from the naked eye. This is an especially helpful tool for completionists who want to explore every inch of the game’s map and find all the best items (many ofthe best catalysts, as well as other weapons and gear, can be found by exploring).
6Affect The Game’s Ending
Hellpointis a game with multiple potential endings that can be unlocked, depending on how the player tackles the game’s campaign, as well as certain NPC interactions that happen throughout its narrative.

For instance, there are certain optional questlines that will change the game’s ending. This feature gives players a real sense of agency and importance as they take onHellpoint’snarrative, rather than feeling like the events of the title happen more or less on rails with little input from the player. It also greatly enhances the game’s replayability, giving players a reason to takeHellpointon again and again.
5Find Secret Doors
One of (arguably) the best things aboutHellpointis the fact that the game is rich in secret doors. Finding all of them in one playthrough is challenging, which incentivizes multiple playthroughs of the title. And, it contributes to the atmosphere of intrigue that the game builds up, which isarguably even better than that ofDark Souls.
Given that they don’t especially stand out, players in the online version of the game tend to leave summon signs or messages next to secret doors to make them easier for other players to find. So, anyone trying to find all of the secret doors inHellpointwill likely want to play the game in online mode to give themselves the best chance at finding as many of them as possible.

4A Secret Boss
While she isn’t part ofHellpoint’sbase game, the Philomycus Queen boss is part of its Blue Sun DLC. Located in the Dominion Baths, the Philomycus Queen is considered by many to be a secret boss due to her being hidden in a secluded area of the map (not exploring the game widely isone of the biggest mistakes players make in the title).
Because of this, the Queen is a totally optional boss, resulting in many players skipping her (or perhaps not even realizing that she’s there). Nevertheless, it’s a fun encounter and definitely a worthy challenge; most players will likely find it to be well worth the effort of seeking her out and beating her.

3Take Different Routes In Different Playthroughs
Being the faithful soulslike that it is, the map inHellpointis in many ways reminiscent of the interweaving, complex world design that Dark Souls 1 in particular features.
One outcome of this is that players inHellpointcan take multiple routes to reach the same destination. This adds to the replay value of the game pretty massively, among other things; players can attempt to take a totally different path when playing through the game the second time around, for instance. Players can also findsome of the best weapons in the gameby exploring. One potential downside of this that some players have complained about is that the map is, at times, labyrinthine and easy to get lost in.

2Try Weapons Without Sufficient Stats
Hellpointfeatures an abundance of weapons for players to use, which allows for the development of a build that is truly tailored to players' preferences and playstyle. Whether players want to make aranged buildor focus on melee combat, the game supports both of these options and more.

If playing the game for the first time, though, it can be tricky to know which weapons a player is going to enjoy using. Fortunately,Hellpointallows players to use weapons that they don’t actually have sufficient stats for. This does nerf any damage the weapon deals, but doesn’t impact its moveset at all. This handy feature allows players to try a weapon before committing to investing in whichever stat or stats they would need to wield it properly.
1Buy And Use Boss’ Gear
Something that not many players ofHellpointknow about is the fact that, located in the Arcology Celestial Workshop, there’s a vendor who sells weapons and armor from the game’s bosses.
So, if players want to replicate the style (or damage dealt) of the bosses inHellpoint, they can visit this vendor and do just that. Note that players need to provide the vendor with fragments from the bosses that players have defeated to actually be able to craft any boss gear. While this is an optional venture, and the gear itself generally isn’t on par wth the best weapons orarmour in the game, it’s a really cool feature to include in the game, as well as being another nod to the Soulsborne series.

Hellpointis out now on PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, Linux, PC, Mac, Google Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X and S.
