Fortnitehas two items to offer players to celebrate Global Accessibility Awareness Day, or GAAD. Tuesday’s update was delayed by a day because Epic Games had big plans for v24.40. In a single update, Epic scrapped the Arena competitive game mode, vaulted Trio playlists fromFortniteBattle Royaleand Zero Build, and added a new Ranked system. For now, Epic Games is probably testing the waters with these major changes and seeing how fans will react. Epic usually takes player feedback into consideration and then makes changes to the game according to fans' thoughts.
Normally, there is a lot more than meets the eye when it comes toFortniteupdates. The blog post for v24.40 mostly spoke about the changes made to thenew Ranked competitive systemand certain balance changes that had been made with quick hotfixes throughout the past couple of weeks. However, even though it wasn’t mentioned in the patch notes, more content was definitely added toFortnitewith the update, and leakers got to it right away as they started digging through the game’s files.

As leakers had already anticipated,Fortniteis celebrating Global Accessibility Awareness Day on May 18, and Epic Games wants to bring the players into the celebration as well. To do this, it’s giving away two free items, but they’ll only be available for a very limited time. Gamers can claim the Access Core back bling and the Good Game, Well Played emote via the Featured tab of the Item Shop until May 19 at 8 PM ET. Once the Item Shop refreshes tomorrow, the items will be gone for good. They will most likely not return anytime soon, so gamers that have a chance to get them definitely shouldn’t miss out on this opportunity.
With the update, the Marigold skin also unexpectedly received a new style and made a return to the Item Shop. Players now have another chance to acquire theGolden Touch Quest Pack inFortnite, and by doing so, they can now rock the Phantom Code alternative style. This new style actually matches the pattern on the Access Core back bling, and they make a great combination in-game.
As theStar Warscrossover event comes to an end, players can expect to see quests, items, and skins related to Miles Morales and theSpider-Manuniverse inFortnitein the upcoming days. The official social media has teased that aFortnitexSpider-Mancrossoveris just around the corner; Spider-Gwen was even added to theFortnitebattle royale island as an NPC in v24.40.
