Netflix’sThe WitcherTV show is available now on the streaming service, featuring a full season of actor Henry Cavill as protagonist Geralt. While Cavill’s performance, andThe Witchershow as a whole, has received mixed reviews, he’s apparently making popular decisions in other areas. Cavill was asked in a recent interview whether he preferred PlayStation or Xbox and his response was to reject both.
Outlet NME took the opportunity to ask Cavill about video games during its in-person interview forThe Witcher. It’s a quick question and response that followed an earlier question about Cavill’s love of the fantasy genre. “PlayStation or Xbox,” is the question posed to Cavill and he responds with a simple “PC” as well as a somewhat affronted expression. It’s clear that Cavill knowns this question well and even the idea of preferring a console over a PC is distasteful to him.

A follow-up question posed to Cavill asks if he’s a PC gamer and Cavill responds in the affirmative. This isn’t surprising news to those who have followed Cavill’s career through the years. Cavill has openly discussed PC gaming in the past, including a story about beingneck-deep in a 5-manWorld of Warcraftdungeonwhen he received the call about earning the role of Superman from DC and Warner Bros.
In another interview just a few days ago, Cavill was asked about his gaming proclivities. Speaking to GQ, he explains that he grew on on PC games likeHalf-Lifeand even hosted LAN parties with his friends. Part of what led him to star as Geralt inThe Witchertelevision show, in fact, was his experience withThe Witchergames. He’s playedThe Witcher 3three times, including a run on the game’s hardest difficulty. If he means Death March!, that’s quite the feat. It’d still be impressive even if he meant the Blood and Broken Bones difficulty, of course.
Cavill being a member of the “PC master race” isn’t likely to make a viewing ofThe WitcherTV show better or worse, but it’s still an interesting detail. Cavill is only 36 years old, a member of the millennial generation, so it’s not so surprising that he’s a big fan of video games. Still, that he’s able to find time in-between his busy schedule to continue playing games is impressive. That he’s still passionate enough about it to be affronted over the insinuation he plays console games over PC games is something else altogether.
