Earlier this week, rumors started swirling thatThe Witcherseason 2 had secretlycastGame of Thronesstar Natalie Dormer. However, Dormer’s representatives have since confirmed that the actress has not been cast inThe Witcherseason 2.

Dormer’s representatives confirmed as much in a statement to Screen Rant. The rumors started because of social media posts by a crew member forThe WitcherTV series that confirmed Dormer was at least visiting the show’s shooting locations. Dormer had also been seen riding horses in Surrey with an unnamedWitchercrew member, causing further speculation that she may be joining the cast forThe Witcherseason 2.

While Dormer isn’t joining the cast ofThe Witcherseason 2, that doesn’t meant the show won’t have someGame of Thronesalum on the cast.The Witcherseason 1 featured Yoren actor Francis Magee, and season 2 is set to includeTormund Giantsbane actor Kristofer Hivju as Nivellen. It’s possible that even more formerGame of Thronesstars will join the cast in future seasons of the show as well, though that remains to be seen.

The WitcherNetflix series has connections toGame of Thronesbesides just having some of the same actors. Vladimir Furdik, who portrayed thevillainous Night King inGame of Thrones, actually works behind-the-scenes onThe Witcher, serving as a choreographer for some of the show’s critically-acclaimed fight scenes.

WithThe Witchercoming out just after the end ofGame of Thronesand both being dark fantasy shows, it’s inevitable that the two will be compared. However, whereas the first season ofGame of Thronesreceived widespread critical acclaim, the same can’t be said forThe Witcherseason 1. In fact,The Witcherseason 1 reviewswere relatively mixed, with one of the main complaints being about the confusing timeline.The Witcherseason 1 was still a hit with viewers and one of Netflix’s most-watched shows of 2019, but it will be interesting to see if the second season earns stronger reviews.

The Witcherseason 2doesn’t premiere until 2021, so fans have about a year or so to wait before they will find out if it lives up to expectations or not.
