The Sims 4: Seasonsadds weather cycles in the worlds to match their climates, temperaments, and official holidays to the Sim Calendar. Holidays automatically happen during one of the four seasons with the Expansion pack.
Each pre-made holiday falls within one of the seasons by default, or players can customize what holidays occur and when they happen each in-game year. Enjoying holiday festivities results in Sims earning satisfaction points and happy moodlets. Additionally, players can enjoy telling even more unique stories. Here’s a complete guide on how holidays work inThe Sims 4: Seasons.

What Are Holidays in The Sims 4
Many holidays inThe Sims 4arebased on real-life holidayslike Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Year’s, and much more. Four pre-made holidays exist, but players can customize them. They can also add their own holidays or delete holidays from the calendar if they don’t want their Sims to acknowledge them.
Holidays begin at 6 AM on their designated day and end at 2 AM the following night.Similar to goaled events, there will be a set of activities called traditions that players must have their Sims complete to celebrate the holiday successfully. If they don’t do all the traditions, their Sims will be sad once the holiday ends.

Pre-Made Holidays
There arefour pre-made holidays: one in the fall, two in the winter, and one in the spring. They are modeled after popular holidays celebrated all over the world. They have traditions already assigned to them, but players have complete control over them and can tweak or delete them as they please.
See below for a list of the pre-made holidays inThe Sims 4: Seasons:

Surprise Holidays
There are also surprise holidays that are not marked on the calendar year-round and occur randomlythrough the different seasons. They usually have only one main tradition, making them easier to complete. While players can’t schedule surprise holidays ahead, they will see them on the calendar a few days before they begin.
Sims may also ignore surprise holidays depending ontheir age or certain traits. For example, Sims who are Hot-Headed will ignore Prank Day due to disliking mischief, and Toddlers will ignore the TV Season Premiere because they are too young.

Custom Holidays
Sims can also add custom holidays to their calendars and edit the pre-made ones by naming them, choosing an icon, and adding traditions. Additionally, players who turn theirlifespan settings to longwill have more time to play around with potential holidays during their respective seasons.
Holidays will also be assigned a decoration theme that dictates what kind of decorations Sims will have access to in the Attic Shack Decoration Box in Build/Buy. The themes include the following:

These themes allow players to add even more holidays, like using a Spooky theme for Halloween or aSpring theme for Easter. Sims can also decide if they want the holiday to be a day off from work or school. Decoration themes combined with holiday traditions can create unique and fleshed-out holidays for Sims to enjoy with their friends and families.
Celebrating Holidays in The Sims 4
Holiday Traditions are specific activities that Sims must complete toexperience a holiday successfully. Every holiday can have a max of five traditions or none at all. Players must ensure that all the traditions are done within the holiday timeframe, as they can’t be extended. However, players can end a holiday early at any point whether they’ve done the traditions or not. Just like surprise holidays, some Sims will ignore specific traditions.
