Summary

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagahas swung the door wide open for a whole new type ofLEGOvideo game experience. While LEGO games have been pretty expansive for a while now,LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagareally took things to the next level, bringing hundreds of iconic characters together, giving players well over 20 explorable open-world planets, and delivering both an impressive set of main story and side missions to dive into, all of which has seemingly paved the way for even bigger and better LEGO games, with the options being near limitless.

While a large-scaleLEGO Harry Pottergame in a similar vein toSkywalker Sagais reportedly in the works right now at Traveler’s Tales, it’s likely that this is only the beginning for this new style of LEGO video game. WhileMarvel and DC would be the natural next picks for TT Gamesdue to their expansive universes, countless iconic characters, and their endless sources of inspiration, it’d be a lot more interesting to see a LEGO game that focused on a different kind of superhero IP.

Invincible Should Be LEGO’s Next Superhero Game

Invincible’s Universe Fits Perfectly with the LEGO Game Formula

While it may not seem quite as expansive as Marvel or DC at first, theInvincibleuniverseactually ticks all the right boxes when it comes to a possible LEGO game based on the superhero property. Running from 2003 to 2018, theInvinciblecomic book series has more than enough content to justify a fully-fledged open-world LEGO game, and it all starts with the core cast of characters.

One of the most important facets of the usual LEGO game formula is having a wide cast of characters to unlock and play as, and the more iconic and unique the characters, the better the game tends to be. Thankfully,Invinciblehas no shortage of colorful characters with unique abilities, some of which would play like traditional LEGO superhero characters, and some of which could be handled a little more creatively. The titularInvincible and his father Omni-Man, for instance, would probably just play like Superman from theLEGO Batmanseries, but someone like Atom Eve could put a more unique spin on the usual formula, letting players completely change their environment by swapping out brick types at will.

AnInvincibleLEGOgame would also have a ton of different environments from the comics to draw inspiration from, with each one acting as a hub-world with its own biome, architecture, NPCs, and side content. What would be really special is if the game let players travel manually between each hub-world, flying through space as Invincible, Omni-Man, or any other space-faring hero to reach another planet.

An Invincible LEGO Game Seems Pretty Unlikely

While it doesn’t necessarily need to be part of the franchise, a lot ofInvincibledoes tend to revolve around some pretty violent themes and imagery, and naturally, LEGO tends to keep far away from things like that. It’s well-known that LEGO won’t even give their minifigures real-world weapons as accessories because of the company’s firm stance as a family-friendly brand. This, obviously, makesanInvincibleLEGO gamepretty unlikely. But the line between family-friendly and adult-oriented is becoming more blurry by the second, with games likeFortnitebringing in a ton of crossovers with more adult-focused shows, movies, and games, includingInvincibleitself, despite catering to a young audience frequently. AnInvincibleLEGO game isn’t completely out of the realm of possibility.
