A listing on the Financial Times confirms that Bloober Team is worth around $4.8 million. The horror game developer has found huge success with games likeBlair Witch,Layers of Fear, andObserver. While its main successes have only come in the last four years, the company has been around since 2010. Its experience and its huge following ofhorror game fansare likely what have made it a hot prospect to those 12 or so potential buyers.
It’s unlikely that any potential games will affect the games that Bloober Team has in development. Other thanThe Medium, the developer is alsodevelopingObserver: System Reduxfor PS5 and Xbox Series X. That game is set to be released on next-generation consoles in holiday 2020. The holiday 2020 release date ofObserver: System ReduxandThe Mediumlikely means that development on the games is close to completion and so they will not somehow be delayed.
However, the money from the sale could be incredibly positive for Bloober Team’s next games. After announcing the game, Bloober Team revealed thatThe Mediumhas a “super secret” Xbox Series X featurethat was only possible on a next-generation console. The developer hasn’t provided any details about this feature but it suggests that Bloober Team is now thinking bigger for its titles.
Bloober Team and many other game developers areusing next-gen tech to do big things with horror games. Money from the sale of the developer could potentially help it to do more of that.
