WhileThe Last of Us 2is ranked third in worldwide sales for the PlayStation 4 behindMarvel’s Spider-ManandGod of War, it has surpassed them in one key element. Many players have bought these games and experienced at least some of what these stories had to offer, but how many have actually completed the game? The numbers are lower than many players may expect it to be. However, the latestNaughty Dogtitle seems to have pulled ahead of the pack in this category.

When completing games on the PlayStation 4, players can earn an achievement that shows other players they have finished the story. This trophies also keep track of the percentage of players that obtain the award. According to a recent screenshot, more than half ofThe Last of Us 2players completed the game — 58% to be exact.
This percentage is much higher than other popular PS4 games, with the next highest games by completion rate,Final Fantasy 7 RemakeandGod of War, at 53.3% and 51.8% respectively. While this game has the highest completion rate of all time, this does not necessarily mean that it has the highest number of player completions total. The Naughty Dog title takes around 20 to 40 hours to finish the full story, so fans have devoted a lot of time to this game and seeing the story all the way to the conclusion.
While there are two games that have more overall sales thanThe Last of Us 2,they have also been released for a much longer period of time than this apocalyptic title. Since this is the case, it would seem that players would have had more time to completeMarvel’s Spider-ManorGod of War.The Last of Us 2has only been out for a few months, and those who have the game are showing how dedicated they are to the series, its characters, and the story — even if they may not be as large a number total.
Even with the controversies the game has found itself at the center of,The Last of Us 2has still shown itself to be a well-made game with a compelling story. While other games may have it beat in sales, it is only a matter of time until the gap between them closes. WithThe Last of UsHBO serieson its way as well, it will only help these numbers rise.
