TheHawkeyeseries finale closed on a pretty positive note, now that Clint finally gets to be with his family, Kate has earned her place as one of Marvel’s next great heroes, and the Ronin suit (as well as everything attached to it) has been burned to ashes. There hasn’t been any news as to whether or not the archers will be returning for a second season, however the show did leave room for some pretty great projects in the future.
Maya Lopez will have her own Disney Plus series somewhere down the line, Kate will certainly be returning to take on the Hawkeye mantle, and based on how Kingpin wassupposedly killed off-screen, he’ll most likely be rearing his head again after he’s taken some time to heal. But beyond all the possible openings for new beginnings,Hawkeyedid a great job of wrapping up loose ends from the Infinity Saga.

One such loose end was the moment shared between Clint and Yelena on the ice, which served as the final step in Clint’s healing process after losing his best friend. Beyond finishing a portion ofClint’s character arc, however, it also highlighted Natasha’s strength, selflessness and her willingness to do the right thing. When Clint revealed that he knew the secret whistle the two sisters shared, then said that Natasha always talked about wanting to keep Yelena safe, he proved that Natasha’s sacrifice was done entirely for the people she loved. Not only did she give up her own life to save Clint’s, she did so with Yelena in mind, because she wanted to help create a better world in which her little sister could live peacefully.
Given how closed off Natasha could be at times, the fact that she trusted Clint enough to share such personal details about her life illustrates why Natasha and Clint wereone of the best duosthe MCU has ever seen. The strongest Marvel relationships seem to be the ones that never took a dive into the romantic side of life, and Natasha and Clint have a uniquely special bond that mirrors their purpose in the MCU.

Clint could have very easily taken advantage of Yelena’s vulnerable state when he revealed the truth about why Natasha sacrificed herself, getting rid of his problem the easy way. In caring for her family by helping Yelena start to grieve properly, Clint is honoring the memory of Natasha and taking steps towards becoming the person she always knew he could be. Natasha wasn’t the only person who could see Clint’s value, though, whichHawkeyeshowed during a touching scene between Kate and Clint.

When Kate explained to Clint that the reason she wants to be a hero is because of what she saw him do during the Battle of New York, it emphasized the fact that Clint has the ability to inspire others. The interaction between Clint and Yelena shows that Natasha possessed this same ability, as well.
Even though neither Clint nor Natasha had any superpowers, their greatest strength is their commitment to helping others. They didn’t have the physical prowess of Steve Rogers, or anIron Mansuit like Tony Stark. They can’t control lighting like Thor, and they can’t transform into something bigger than themselves the way Bruce Banner does. But the reason they don’t is because they don’t need to.
What makes these two so special is their bravery and their unwavering commitment to doing the right thing.Clint and Natashaare the perfect example of how anyone is capable of making positive change in the world, regardless of where they come from. Although these two had rough pasts and some questionable upbringings, they were able to become some of the greatest MCU heroes, simply because of their inner strength and resilience.
Amongst all the web-slinging,magic-wielding heroesin the MCU, it’s easy for the characters who rely on no special abilities to get overlooked amidst the chaos. The current lineup of Marvel heroes are all able to do some pretty incredible things, but it’s characters like Clint and Natasha who helped the franchise get started and gain traction amongst audiences. Without them, the Avengerswould have never been able to make such a huge impact on viewers and the MCU would look much different than it does today.
