Netflixis bringing author R. L. Stine’s extremely popular seriesFear Streetto the streaming service in the form of a trilogy this summer. Netflix has revealed that the three films will premiere over three consecutive weeks in July. Additionally, a teaser trailer was released that has the right amount of slasher film vibes.
The first film,Fear Street Part 1: 1994, arrives on Netflix on July 2, followed byFear Street Part 2: 1978on July 8 andFear Street Part 3: 1666on July 16. With only a week’s gap between each film, it would be safe to say that the streaming giant ismaking the films binge-watchable.

Similar to the books, theFear Streetfilms will cover three different time periods, as is obvious from the titles. The trailer reveals that most of the plot is alsobeing adapted from the books, with the story based in the fictional town of Shadyside and a group of teenagers at the forefront. They will seemingly discover the mysterious history of the town, which involves tales of a witch casting a curse that has affected generations of residents. Director Leigh Janiak has confirmed that all three films were shot “over one crazy, bloody summer" and she is excited that fans will also get to experience the scare-fest back to back. While the books were rated PG, the films will bereleased with an R rating, which means they will deliver the already gruesome deaths in theFear Streetbook series with even more blood and gore.
The firstFear Streetbook, titledThe New Girl,was published in 1989, beforeStine’s equally reveredGoosebumpsnovels. From there on, the series went on to become a huge success and has sold over 80 million copies. It has entranced generations of readers, with many referring to Stine as the king of ‘90s teen horror. A few spin-off series' were also written by the author to attract audiences of different age groups.Ghosts of Fear Streetwas targeted at much younger readers, whereas the books in theFear Street Sagawere not meant for the weak-hearted because they had the most gruesome deaths featured in their chapters.
The film project was first announced in 2015 and since then fans have been eagerly waiting for thefilm adaptations of Stine’s horror novel series. The project was initiated under the 20th Century Fox umbrella, but the Disney and Fox merger put a damper on the fate of the trilogy. Netflix then took over the project and is now delivering three films for fans to watch.
While Stine took a break from theFear Streetseries in 1999, a three-partFear Street Nightsminiseries was published in 2005 and aFear Streetrevival was launched in 2014. The series clearly has a fan base that isn’t ready to let go yet and for years they have asked Stine to bring back their favorite stories. The author confirmed in previous interviews that his fans on Twitter spoke mostly about bringing the series back during his hiatus.
TheFear StreetTrilogy will begin on May 25, 2025, exclusively on Netflix.
