It’s a full cycle forThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier, as the upcoming Marvel series that was first teased during the Super Bowl last year and now just got its final trailer during Super Bowl 55 before its premiere on March 19.

Of course,The Falcon and the Winter Soldierwas originally meant to be a 2020 summer release for Disney Plus, but the pandemic halted filming for the series and forced some reshuffling as with all of the MCU’s offerings. AsWandaVisioncontinues to shock Marvel fansweek in and week out, this last preview forThe Falcon and the Winter Soldieris starting to show more promise of what’s to come for Steve Rogers’ friends.

The entire plot surroundingThe Falcon and the Winter Soldieris set to revolve around who between Bucky Barnes andSam Wilson gets to wield Captain America’s shield. However, the action-packed series also aims to make the most out of this globetrotting superhero duo. Starting off with what seems like some form of couples therapy for field agents before moving on to share glimpses of the rest of the cast.

Some other noteworthy elements from the trailer are Wilson’s expression when looking at a portrait of the previous Captain America, which might suggest theold Rogers (Chris Evans) seen inAvengers: Endgamehas already passed away; and, despite not getting a better look at the Thunderbolts gang norshowing Don Cheadle’s War Machine,it does feature speech from Baron Helmut Zemo carrying his signature purple mask.

From the looks of it, if the first half ofWandaVisionmanaged to beautifully recreate the charm of old sitcom from different decades,The Falcon and the Winter Soldieris trying to add a modern superhero twist to the buddy cop formula that has worked so well since the 70’s for the likes ofStarsky & Hutch,Miami Vice,Tango & Cash,Lethal Weapon,Bad BoysandRush Hour, all in a longer format than WandaVision.

That doesn’t necessarily mean thatThe Falcon and the Winter Soldierwill be devoid of mystery though, as these early teasers have been very secretive about what type of role Captain America stand-in John F. Walker will have in its plot or just exactly how Baron Zemo is out on the loose after being captured inCaptain America: Civil WarbyBlack Pantherhimself.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldierwill be available on Disney+ starting August 05, 2025.
