While not as popular asDestiny,it’s hard to deny thatThe Division 2hasn’t been a major improvement over the previous entry in the franchise. Now, fans will get to explore even more of what the game has to offer, as Ubisoft announced a new expansion,Warlords of New York, forThe Division 2during a live stream today.
Set eight months after the events of the first game,The Division 2: Warlords of New Yorkwill see players return to New York City to hunt down Aaron Keener, one of the main antagonists of the firstDivisiongame. Not only will players be tracking down Keener, but they’ll also be tasked with taking down several other Warlords, each holding their own district in New York’s Lower Manhattan. The expansion is separate fromEpisode 3, which will be launching tomorrow for Year One Pass holders.

Throughout the expansion, players will earn new loot, abilities, and more. New York City will also feature a radically different appearance than what players saw in the first game, as it’s been eight months since the events of the first entry. During that time, the city has changed drastically, as the effects of a hurricane ravage what little infrastructure is left, leaving New York with somecritical issues inThe Division 2.
The expansion seems to be part of a complete overhaul of the game, especially considering Ubisoft’s recent announcement for anupdated gear system inThe Division 2.For those that have stuck with it, it’s wonderful news, as the added content is sure to bring plenty more to do and a fresh round of players to help with matchmaking times. Plus, the expansion is raising the level cap to 40, offering players more of a leveling experience. The expansion itself will be available for $30, while a bundle containing it and the base game will be available for $40.
As far as new content drops go,The Division 2: Warlords of New Yorkseems to be a decent new addition to the game. Ubisoft is putting more effort into its live service games after thefailure ofGhost Recon: Breakpoint,so there will likely be even more on the horizon forThe Division 2in the future. Only time will tell, but the game appears to be getting the attention it deserves, which is great news for fans ofThe Divisionfranchise. There are plenty of looter shooters out there, though not all of them are great, so it’s good to see one of the best ones continue to be iterated on.
The Division 2is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.Warlords of New Yorkis set to launch on March 3rd, 2o2o.
