Most players in thissurvival FPSwill use a pistol as a secondary weapon, a sidearm if you will. Quickly switching to their pistol to finish off enemies when their main weapon comes up empty, rather than waiting to reload it. However, it is entirely viable to use a pistol as a primary weapon as well, with some practice.
TheG17 - Dustyis the perfect sidearm for players who already run a shrapnel build for their main weapon. Considering the blueprint for this pistol can be looted from mystical crates in the Iron River region of theopen-world map, it is pretty easy to acquire.
In the early to mid-levels of the game, this pistol is one of thebest weaponswhen, using a KAM assault rifle with the shrapnel effect, combined with this weapon as a sidearm, is going to give any player the firepower they need to get to the endgame.
TheR500 - Hammerhead Sharkis the perfect sidearm partner for theSOCR Outsiderassault rifle, as both of them are designed to exploit the power surge combat mechanic inOnce Human. As an epic weapon, it should be a little easier to pull this blueprint from the Wish Machine than the legendary pistols later on this list.
Overall, if the player is willing toinvest blueprint fragments to upgradethe R500 - Hammerhead Shark blueprint, it could become their forever sidearm, although it could do with a couple more rounds in the drum.
TheDE.50 - Wildfireis very obviously intended to be used as a primary weapon, rather than a backup sidearm. This is very much a pistoleer’s pistol, designed to be used accurately to boost damage.
Taking down single enemies is where this pistol shines, so it is great for boss fights. It’s only when the player is fighting an enemy with no other enemies within 15 meters of their target that this pistol shines. Overall, a difficult weapon to master, that is intended to be used with a particular playing style, but worth making the effort to learn how to use.
The R500 Memento serves as an excellent sidearm inOnce Human. For players who prefer to carry a pistol to quickly eliminate enemies rather than waiting to reload their primary weapon, this gun offers additional utility.
Its special ability increases weapon damage and reloads a bullet each time the player hits an enemy’s weak spot. This makes the R500 Memento an ideal backup weapon for taking down bosses in this third-person horror game. Overall, it stands out as the best pistol in the game for most players.
TheDE.50 - Jawsis an interesting weapon, being a pistol that uses the unstable bomber combat mechanic. This makes it a perfect sidearm for a player who is running an unstable bomber build for their main weapon.
Unfortunately, the fact that the blueprint for this weapon is unlocked via the Wish Machine, means that only the luckiest of players will gain access to it within the first season ofOnce Human. But overall, this is a great sidearm for PvE combat gameplay.
