After a long wait, fans have finally gotten their hands onSuper Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, one of the final capstones toSuper Mario Bros.' 35th anniversary. The enhanced Nintendo Switch port of the 2013 Wii U title has been one of the Switch’s most ambitious ports yet, changing gameplay mechanics, adding an online multiplayer mode, and of course, a brand newSuper Mario Odyssey-styledmini-adventure in the form ofBowser’s Fury.
Some fans who either got the game delivered to them early or downloaded it on Thursday night were greeted with a day-one patch forSuper Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury,as has become custom with many Nintendo Switch games at this point. Typically, these day-one updates contain last-minute bug fixes and quality of life improvements, and although fans weren’t sure exactly what was included in the new update at first, Nintendo has now released official patch notes.

Just after the game was released tooverwhelmingly positive reviews,Nintendo’s official support page now includes details aboutSuper Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury’s 1.1.0 update, stating that the patch has “fixed various issues to improve the overall gameplay experiences.” While these patch notes are fairly vague, some fans on Reddit have noticed that the update seems to mainly improve the user experience of the game’s Stamp menu.
Over on Reddit, user Teedus27 noted that the game’s Stamp menu, referred to as the “sticker menu” in their post, has a smoother animation after adding a Stamp to a player’s collection at the end of a level. It seems that prior to the 1.1.0 update forSuper Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, the Stamp menu’s animations would stutter at the end of a level. Much like the game’s Green Stars,Stamps are collectibles hidden throughout each level, and change depending on the character being used. While stamps could be used in the Wii U’s Miiverse functionalities in the original game,Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Furyinstead allows players to use stamps in the game’s new Snapshot mode.
Of course, even though this update for the game isn’t anything groundbreaking, quality of life improvements are always welcomed by fans. It will be interesting to see ifSuper Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Furyreceives any more substantial updates in the future, like the much requestedaddition of Princess Daisy.
