How to Romance Barrett
Barrett is the first member of Constellation that is introduced to the player in the early stages of the game. While the first meeting is brief, players who wish to romance him will not need to wait long to do so. After completing the primarystory mission, “Back To Vectera,“players will be given three simultaneous story missions, one of which involves meeting with Barrett again. After completing his mission, Barrett will become available as an active companion.

Like any potential suitors inStarfield, it is best to have the favored companion set as the player’s active travel partner, as witnessing certain actions can have a positive outcome on the affinity with them. Barrettenjoys jokes but is put off by arrogance, so players shouldopt for the more light-hearted responseswhen partaking in conversations with him. As he warms up to the captain, players shouldopt for the “[Flirt]” dialogue options as they appear.
Additionally, Barrett is someone who is impressed with morally upstanding actions, so those who wish to begin a relationship with him shouldavoid dishonest actionssuch as pickpocketing, stealing, or committing crimes. On the other hand, acts of kindness like helping people out or refusing rewards when the option is available. If an action performed is favorable in Barrett’s eyes, a HUD notification will pop up to indicate that he likes what has happened.
Breach of Contract Quest
Once the affinity level is high enough, Barrett will begin to open up about his late husband, Ervin. He will be hesitant at first to talk about what happened to Ervin, so players should tread carefully when addressing the subject and opt forthe softest emotional responsesto his dialogue. Once enough trust has been built up, the “Breach Of Contract” mission will become available, which will require players to help Barrett conduct an investigation into his late husband’s alleged wrong-doings. This will require some financial contributions from the player,which must be given if players wish to begin a romantic relationship with Barrett.

Once this is done, players will travel to Gagarin with Barrett to search for evidence to clear Ervin’s name. While there is the option to testify without finding all of the evidence, it is best toensure everything is collectedto show the player’s dedication to Barrett. Additionally,choosing Doctor Kaelain the next prompt is the best possible outcome and will win over the most favor with Barrett.
Oncethe mission is completedand Ervin’s name has been cleared of any wrongdoing, players will have the opportunity to make their intentions with Barrett clear. These advances will be met warmly by the companion, and a future with Barrett as the player’s husband very quickly becomes a reality.
