Now thatSpider-Man: No Way Homeis officially setting new records at the box office, it’s time for the film’s director to move onto new projects. According to one recent report, when it comes to those new projects, Jon Watts' next movie is still expected to be theFantastic FourMCU reboot.
Watts has directed all three of theSpider-Manmovies that are part of the MCU and starred Tom Holland. For now, it appears the trilogy is over and those involved in the projects are set to go their separate ways. In that regard, the director has several irons in the fire. While it’s not known when exactly some projects he’s attached to are going to come out, there is a belief that his next movie is still slated to betheFantastic Fourreboot, which could shed some light on when that film is expected, as well as when his other projected could be released.

Earlier this week it was revealed that one of Jon Watts' next projects is going to be a reboot of yet another movie franchise. Though he won’t be directing it, he’s slated to help produce what isbeing calledFinal Destination 6, which technically could mean it’s more of a continuation than a full reboot. However, in that same report, Variety said that the director’s next project is still “likely"Fantastic Four.
That detail is interesting for one reason in particular, in that while theSpider-Man: No Way Homedirectorhas been attached toFantastic Fourfor a while, a release date is still not known. In fact, very little has been revealed about the project other than it is officially in development. Just where in development is known only to Kevin Feige and those on the inside of the production.
In addition toFinal Destination 6andFantastic Four, Watts is also hard at work on a new thriller for Apple TV Plus that is set to star bothGeorge Clooney and Brad Pitt. Much like the other two projects, it’s not known when exactly this is set to release or really when it is going into production in earnest.
It is possible that Watts could work on bothFinal Destination 6and theFantastic Fourreboot at roughly the same time since he’s producing one and directing the other. However, the report, if it’s accurate, could mean thatFinal Destinationfranchise fans are going to have to take a back seat to the MCU and wait a bit longer for the next installment’s arrival.
