Several potentialMarvel’s Spider-Man 2plot details have been leaked online, including some insights on the game’s central villains. The next installment of Insomniac’s critically acclaimed superhero action series was announced way back in 2021, and now fans are eagerly awaiting the launch ofMarvel’s Spider-Man 2on the PlayStation 5 later this year. An exact release date is still unknown, but Insomniac has stated that it should be ready sometime in the fall.
While the plot ofMarvel’s Spider-Man 2is still largely under wraps, it will build upon several elements from the previous two games. Peter Parker and Miles Morales will continue their mission to protect New York City from any villains that threaten it, withVenom and Kraven the Hunter having been teasedas the main enemies of the upcoming sequel. In a twist on the classicSpider-Manmythology, Peter’s childhood friend and comic book rival Harry Osborn has been hinted as the human host of the Venom symbiote inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, but a new rumor suggests that this might not be the case after all.

A 4chan user claims to know the plot ofMarvel’s Spider-Man 2and has shared several major details online (via ComicBook.com). According to this supposed leak, Peter will become infected with the Symbiote early on,gaining his classic Symbiote Suitand using the resulting new powers to defeat his former police ally-turned-vigilante-killer Yuri Watanabe. Norman Osborn becomes concerned about Spidey’s new abilities and hires Kraven to capture him. After a few increasingly extreme battles, Peter eventually rids himself of the suit, which then infects Eddie Brock, the original Venom from the comics.
According to the leak, Eddie will be a playable character inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, similar to thestealth sections featuring Mary Jane and Milesfrom the first game. Once he becomes Venom, Eddie teams up with Kraven to seek revenge on Peter, but eventually kills the Hunter. Meanwhile, Norman supposedly gaslights Harry into becoming the Green Goblin, leading to a final confrontation between the two Spider-Men, Goblin, and Venom. Norman then kills Harry with a more advanced Goblin suit and removes the Symbiote from Eddie, leading to both Brock and the creature disappearing after falling off a roof.
Other villains included in this unconfirmedMarvel’s Spider-Man 2plot leak include Mysterio, Sandman, Big Wheel, Shocker, Paste Pot Pete, and Screwball, andDoc Ock is supposedly featuredin an audio cameo. Miles’ subplot reportedly involves tension between him and Peter over the former’s inexperience, and he spends time investigating mysterious signals and events throughout the city. Finally, a post-credit scene will have a portal to the multiverse open as a result of “Spider-Verse events,” and a confused Spider-Gwen will emerge as a setup for future sequels.
Given the unreliable nature of this latest 4chan leak, players should take the connectedMarvel’s Spider-Man 2story and character detailswith a grain of salt for the time being. However, should they prove accurate, it seems like Insomniac has devised yet another emotionally intense plotline that plays with the classic comic book lore that fans know and love in intriguing ways.
