Mortal Kombat 11is getting ready to add the newest DLC character as a part ofthe Kombat Pack. The comic book character, Spawn, will joinMortal Kombatofficially on March 17. The comic book’s creator, Todd McFarlane, has talked much Kombatrecently.

Todd McFarlane has been excited about his character gracing the battlefield ofMKagain. McFarlane interviewed with Shoryuken and when asked about the route Spawn would take in theMKfranchise, McFarlane hopes that they fit Spawn in well withMKculture. He gave them creative freedom to really fit the essence ofMKwithin the character model. McFarlane believes the artists and animators should not be boxed in and should make Spawn as exciting as possible. Based on the poster andthe teaser trailer released, Spawn will look much like he does in the comics, but will most likely get some exclusiveMKcostumes or variations.

McFarlane also gave some ideas on the potential future of theMortal Kombatgames afterMortal Kombat 11. McFarlane believes that the core characters are a strong point and much can be done with them. During his interview McFarlane said, “I would be interested in taking the original ten who have been around for the longest and make them a bit different, not better, just different than what people are used to.” McFarlane always has big ideas, and it would be interesting to see what he would change with the original ten fighters. If McFarlane was ever to work onMKcreatively, the franchise would surely see some fresh ideas.

Unfortunately, McFarlane currently is not directly working on Spawn coming to the game, but he will be a part of thelive-streamed Final Kombat, which will show gameplay of Spawn before his release. McFarlane is hoping that NetherRealm studio exercises full creative freedom to create the best character they can. McFarlane says in the Shoryuken interview, “I told these guys, look, I am not in my twenties anymore, I’m older, I’ve got thick skin, get creative! Eventually, the guys at NetherRealm got to the point where it all clicked. ‘Wow, we can really do anything!'”. McFarlane has high hopes for his character, and he will probably have more insight during Final Kombat.

Final Kombat will possibly unveil every move and variation of Spawn, however, players will still have to wait until March 17th to play as him. During the wait, there is still time totry Mortal Kombat 11 freeover the weekend for Xbox and PlayStation players. The latest DLC character, The Joker, is also free to play over the weekend as well.

Mortal Kombat 11is available on PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
