Luckily, more DLC has been said to be on its way toSonic Frontiersthroughout next year. This means players have a chance to get more outfits for Sonic. There’s also potential for some new modes to be added to the game in the future, as well. There’s a rather interesting situation that comes out of this window, though.Sonic Prime, Netflix’s newSonicTV show, releases on December 15, and the timing works out great forFrontiersto get a special themed DLC to match.

How Sonic Prime Could Tie into Sonic Frontiers
Sonic Primehas been described as “Into theSonic-verse” by franchise fanatics. The premise of the show deals with Sonic and companyattacking Dr. Eggmanas he tries to obtain a new powerful gemstone known as the “Paradox Prism.” In the scuffle, Sonic breaks the Prism, which causes a chain reaction that makes reality shatter. Sonic travels through new “Shatterspace” alternate realities created as a result, teaming up with different versions of his friends.
Themost recent trailers forSonic Primesee the blue hedgehog rocking new sneakers and gloves in every reality he visits. His shoes and gloves seems to change in every reality he’s in with a few accessories. Sonic can be seen wearing a pirate hat in the pirate reality, for example. This could be what tiesPrimeintoSonic Frontiers.

Sonic Frontiers' Potential Sonic Prime DLC
Sonic Frontiersoffers the most customization seen in aSonicgame in recent history. A series first, players can change the way Sonic’s speed operates in the game between a set of parameters, allowing fans toenjoySonic Frontiersat their own personal pace. Alongside that, fans can change Sonic’s shoes, gloves, and even dress him up in Rathalos armor fromMonster Hunter, but none of these items can be unlocked in the base title.
OnlytheMonster Hunteroutfitsare widely available for every player, though, as the DLC pack is free to download on players' consoles of choice. Not everySonicfan enjoysMonster Hunter, though, and this is where aSonic PrimeDLC pack could fill in an empty space. Due to the number of different shoes and gloves Sonic wears inPrime, this could lead to fans getting at least three new outfits, with the potential for more later in the show.
There’s potential forSonic PrimeDLC to be more than just more outfits for the blue blur to wear, as well. There could be a special Prism Shard added to unlock some special abilities related toPrimeon the skill tree, or perhaps a special level based on the strange Eggman-controlled reality that Sonic lands in when the Prism Shard first breaks. It’s hard to say just what fans might get out of some tie-in DLC, asFrontiersDLC at this point has been relatively small in scope.
This is only if Sega decides to release tie-in DLC to connect the franchise’s most recent releases, however. There’s been no words ofSonic PrimeDLC forFrontiersyet, but it would be a completely missed opportunity if the company didn’t with how both titles see Sonic wearing shoes and gloves he normally doesn’t wear. The connection would also work well with howSonic Team aims to createa “connected universe” across mostSonicproperties.
Sonic Frontiersis available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
