Being a thief inSkyrimcan be a lucrative way of earning some quick coin, but one particular NPC was clearly unable to read the room when they attempted to mug the player during what can only be described as an inconvenient moment. Despite its age,The Elder Scrolls 5continues to leave an impact on the open-world genre, keeping players coming back for more while also pulling in some newcomers. It’s the RPG that keeps on giving, with no end to its legacy seemingly in sight.
It’s interesting howSkyrimfans are still finding new things in the game, even after playing for years. The fact that some things can elude gamers for such a long time speaks volumes about how much content Bethesda put into its 2011 epic title, whether it’s an Easter egg or an immersion-breaking glitch.

A recent example comes from Reddit user BiggestCheeseBread, who posted a brief clip from theirSkyrimplaythrough that shows them approaching Meridia during the infamous quest involving the beacon. When the player approaches the statue of the Daedric Prince, they are suddenly accosted by an opportunistic thief, who demands they hand over their valuables. Unfortunately for the NPC, BiggestCheeseBread has already been spirited away by Meridia after placing the aforementioned beacon on the pedestal, thus leaving the would-be mugger unable to obtain anything of value from the Dragonborn. The clip is pretty amusing, especially given how poorly timed the thief’s demand was.
For those who don’t know, “The Break of Dawn” is a well-known side quest inTES5that can be started by looting Meridia’s Beacon from a random chest. Upon picking it up, the Dragonborn will immediately hear the booming words of the Prince saying, “A new hand touches the beacon,” with the player unable to drop the artifact until the job is done. This has led many to consider itone of the most frustrating quests inSkyrim.
That aside, BiggestCheeseBread’s thread is just one example of how people are helping to keep the game in the mainstream limelight. With all the custom mods that are available andSkyrimfans continuing to discuss the RPG, the fifth installment in the influentialElder Scrollsseries continues to dominate the AAA sphere in the industry. It’s likely that fans will eventually move on, especially whenTES6comes out, but that time is not now.
