The Elder Scrollsseries is one of the most well-known role-playing franchises in western gaming, and someone has decided to honor the lore by creating their own replica of one of the titular magical parchments. WithSkyrimenjoying such longevity, Bethesda’s most lucrative asset continues to dominate the video game landscape. Of course, as popular asTES5still is, despite being over 11 years old at this point, there are many who are eagerly awaiting the next installment.
The Elder Scrolls 6is still in development, but with Bethesda also finishing work onStarfield, the studio’s newest IP in a quarter of a century, not to mention confirmingFallout 5last year, the arrival of the nextTESentry still feels a long way off. While each game in the series is contained within its own separate province, featuring its own main storyline, the entire universe is connected through its in-depth and fictional history, as well as through the mysterious artifacts that inspire the franchise’s namesake.

So important are the scrolls toThe Elder Scrollsgames that one fan has decided to make their own version of one. Posting a few images to theSkyrimforum over on Reddit, user The_SunBreaker has not only shown great attention to detail in crafting one of these key components of vital lore, they’ve done so to the comedic detriment of the other people in the comments. A few others in the thread have been jokingly admonishing the user for “blinding” them, with one person saying, “Thanks, mate, brain melted.” Another commenter, evidently not affected by the scroll’s power, has said they would enjoy a toilet dispenser that looks similar to what The_SunBreaker has created.

To clarify, the replica doesn’t actually cause any ocular issues. The joke comes from thescrolls themselves that form an important part ofThe Elder Scrollslore. Featured in a number ofTESentries, these artifacts contain details about the past and future of the in-game universe. However, they also possess special abilities that allow only hero types to be able to read what’s written on them. Anyone who is not deemed worthy enough will experience negative side effects, most notable of which is blindness, hence all the comments in the Reddit thread.
It’s no wonder that people like The_SunBreaker are out there making facsimile’s of Bethesda assets, given thatThe Elder Scrollsis such a popular western RPG series. Fans may be getting a little impatient to know the whereabouts of the next game, but hopefully the long wait will be worth it in the end.
The Elder Scrolls 6is currently in development.
