The hotly anticipated remake ofSilent Hill 2has been in development since 2019, with the possibility that the project could be entering the late stages of production. Asone of the most iconic horror series in all of gaming, many fans have been waiting years for Konami’s franchise to make a triumphant return, with many rumors and leaks doing the rounds, but nothing official was confirmed until recently.
Abunch ofSilent Hillprojects were announcedat Konami’s Transmission broadcast held on October 19. What finally came to light is that a host of developers are currently working on new entries in the dormant series, which include two brand-new games, an interactive horror experience which will be a collaboration betweenDead by Daylightstudio Behaviour Interactive and J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot outfit, as well as a new film. On top of all this was the confirmation that Bloober Team is officially working on a remake ofSilent Hill 2, which has been in development for some time.

According to Polish website The Gram, the remake of the influentialSilent Hillsequel has been in the works since 2019, and it looks like the studio has reached the advanced stages of development. The report goes on to say that the budget has been fully covered by Konami, who will be publishing the game. According to Bloober Team, it’s possible that Konami will release more info soon. At the moment, things are still uncertain about a possible release date for the game, but hopefully fans won’t have long until a potential release date is announced.
For many, the fact that the project has been in development for three years may not be too surprising. After all, there have been numerous rumors flying around thatBloober Team was in charge of theSilent Hill 2remakelong before it was officially confirmed. It’s also exciting to know that the studio is approaching the latter stages of development, so hopefully word will come soon about when players can expect it to launch.
With thetragic loss of Kojima and del Toro’sP.T., many have lamented the fact thatSilent Hilldid not seem to have a future. Konami was seemingly not interested in revitalizing the beloved horror franchise. But the fact that it’s now coming back in several forms is truly exciting for those who were hoping to see the infamous foggy town again.
