The newest trailer that debuted during theDevolver Digital live streamis absolutely nuts. The start of the trailer is relatively tame, with sweet and fluid acrobatics that highlight the movement-based gameplay. But by the end of the minute and a half piece of footage, there is blood everywhere, insane takedowns, and more. But the craziest aspect has to be the bosses.

In the video, there is a boss that is mechanical and has a drill for a head. There is a harmonica-looking enemy with a horrifying face, a highflying ninja that seems impossible to hit, a disgusting-looking troll, and more. Within all of this, the trailer shows off the bosses being dismantled and destroyed with flair and violence, including ripping off the troll’s arm and using it as a weapon. It seems as ifShadow Warrior 3is trying to compete with thebest boss battles of all time, and based on the trailer alone it has a shot to do just that.

Shadow Warrioris a unique series, although it can be most closelycompared to the recentDoomgames. The fast-paced gameplay, over the top gore, and crazy bosses are all what help to set it apart. The first two games have had success, butShadow Warrior 3could be the game that truly puts the series on the map.

Devolver Digital has put together a strong resume of games over the past few years. TheShadow Warriorgames are perhaps the most triple-A looking games of the bunch. Recently the publisher put together afree E3 booth experienceas a game on steam, in lieu of the actual event that would have taken place in June. Devolver Digital is certainly doing some unique things, andShadow Warrior 3’s crazy trailer is just a piece of that.
