If there’s one character who loves involving himself in franchises other than his own, it’s Deadpool. If there’s one actor who embodies the character they play to an almost scary degree, it’s… probably Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, or maybe J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson. Ok, so there are several who fit that bill. But another one of them is Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, and he’s really playing it up asThe Suicide Squad’s release comes closer.
Of course, Deadpool isn’t even part of DC Comics, much lessThe Suicide Squad. But that doesn’t mean Reynolds himself can’t draw a fun, if particularly gory, comparison between his character and the equally violent upcoming film. Besides, if Deadpool were to be in any DC movie, this would probably be it. In that spirit, Reynolds posted an Instagram story highlighting a particular moment fromThe Suicide Squad’s particularly R-rated trailerand cheekily comparing it to a scene fromDeadpool 2.

The bit fromthe trailer featured King Sharkripping an unfortunate adversary in half with his bare hands in full bloody detail, and Reynolds was quick to point out the similarity to aDeadpool 2shot that featured the titular merc with a mouth being ripped in twain by Marvel villain Juggernaut. Don’t worry, it’s not as big of a spoiler as it might sound, considering Deadpool is literally incapable of dying. It just hurts. A lot.
Reynolds topped off the story with the caption “Who tore it better?” in a reference to the rather ubiquitous “who wore it better?” meme that shows two similarly dressed people, albeit with one generally to a much more absurd degree. This definitely seems like something Deadpool himself would actually do in-universe, further driving home just how well-suited Reynolds is to play the character. The rather slow anddad-bod-sporting King Shark, however, might be less inclined to make that comparison and instead elect to eat somebody. Look, everybody’s got their quirks.
The Suicide Squadis gearing up to be a real spectacle of a film, and this little bump from Deadpool himself can only serve to raise hype levels even further. Sure, nobody can say how good the movie will be until it’s actually available to the public, but considering its trailers as well as the fact thatGuardians of the Galaxy’s James Gunnis at the helm, many eager fans have dared to hold their hopes high in anticipation. Here’s hoping it pulls it off.
All theDeadpoolfans out there shouldn’t worry, though. He’s got his own upcoming movie too, andDeadpool 3is looking to be R-rated, just like its predecessors. So the world is as it should be, aside from everything.
