As thePlayStation 5’s launch approaches, fans are becoming concerned given Sony’s silence regarding the console’s launch date and price. While we recently got a glimpse of upcomingPlayStation 5titles at Gamescom 2020, given the console’s release some time within “holiday 2020,” it seems like Sony is still withholding a lot of information regarding the PS5. That may change soon however, as prominent leaker Dusk Golem (also known as AestheticGamer) implied that Sony is planning to host a PS5 event within the first half of September.
Following his teases of a newMonster Huntertitle for Nintendo Switch andsomethingShenmuerelated being announcedin the near future, Dusk Golem took to Twitter to provide an update on some of the titles he has previously reported on. Dusk Golem has also leakedthe existence ofResident Evil 8: Villageand a possibleResident Evil 4remake earlier this year and briefly mentioned them, claiming “In other news,RE8will most likely be great,RE4is in a bit of a worrying position right now,” implying that there may be trouble behind the remake’s development.

He later states that there will be a PlayStation 5 event in the “first half of September.” Dusk Golem also reported onthe possible existence of aSilent Hilltitlecoming exclusively to PlayStation 5 as a collaboration between Sony and Konami earlier this year, which also provided an update on, stating “Silent Hillis still in dev.” This seems to imply that the title is still far from being officially revealed by either Sony or Konami and unlikely to show up at the September event.
Dusk Golem has yet to provide further details but this early September window does seem to make sense given that both Microsoft and Nintendo are rumored to be holding events early in the month too. An upcoming PlayStation 5 event would very likely reveal the price for the PS5 and the release date, which isrumored to be in mid-November, following the release of the Xbox Series X.
While Sony has remained somewhat silent since the PlayStation 5’s Future of Gaming event in June, it has recently opened a page on its website to allow users access to the first PlayStation 5 pre-orders and revealed that the upcomingRatchet & Clank: Rift Apartwill be part of the PlayStation 5’s launch window.
ThePlayStation 5is planned to release in “holiday 2020.”
