According to AestheticGamer, a leaker who has accurately leakedResident Evilnews in the past, they are “like 99% sure” thatResident Evil 8will be revealed at thePS5 game reveal event. AestheticGamer noted that basically the entireResident Evilfranchise went on sale on June 4, the day that the PS5 reveal event was originally supposed to take place, including the biggest discount yet forResident Evil 7.

It’s possible that this is just a coincidence, but AestheticGamer’s conclusion does make sense. TheResident Evil 8announcement would no doubt drum up excitement for the survival-horror franchise, and Capcom would be able to take advantage of that by drastically lowering the prices on the otherResident Evilgames. And if the rumors ofResident Evil 8being a direct sequel toRE7, complete with protagonist Ethan Winters and the redesignedChris Redfield, then it would make sense for Capcom to get more people to playRE7in the meantime.
However, the PS5 game reveal event has been indefinitely delayed. Sony has promised that news on the PS5 game reveal event will come soon, but it has stopped short of providing specifics. PlayStation fans will need to stay tuned on that front, but in the meantime, there is another date coming up thatResident Evilfanswill want to keep in mind.
Previously, the rumor was that theResident Evil 8reveal date would be June 10, as that date has been pointed out as significant to members of theResident EvilAmbassador program. Perhaps this date will be for a differentResident Evilgame, or maybe Capcom was planning on making anotherResident Evil 8-related announcement on that day.
