Summary

Redfallhas started to roll out refunds for the $100 Bite Back edition, which was supposed to include DLC that never got released, as development and support for the game comes to an end.Redfallis a vampire-themed first-person co-op shooter developed by Arcane Studios Austin and published by Bethesda in May 2023. Since its launch, the game has received significant backlash and negative reviews from players and critics. Despite the promising setting, the game flopped largely because of its buggy release, which accounts for its small player base.

The player count has been decreasing by the day since the launch of the game. At one point in late 2023, thenumber of concurrent players inRedfallreached single digits, which was a very low point for the game and the companies involved. The number of players keeps decreasing as it’s becoming very hard to get companions in the game because of a low player count, creating a never-ending loop. For many players, the solo mode inRedfallis not very enjoyable either, as people have mentioned that the game world can get very lonely.

Redfallwas supposed to release a DLC as part of its Bite Back edition, which promised new weapon attachments, skins and heroes. However, the DLC was never released as developerArcane Austin was shut down andRedfall’s ongoing development was canceled. The game’s official Twitter account announced in May that those who bought the Hero Pass, the Bite Back edition, or the Bite Back upgrade would receive refunds because there won’t be any DLC to look forward to. Finally, after more than a month, the refunds are starting to roll out.

Redfall Is Issuing Refunds for the Bite Back Edition

In a Twitter post today on June 20, Jez Corden, a writer from Windows Central, asked whether players had started to get refunds for the premium Bite Back edition. Many replied that they got the refund today, while others are still waiting to get their money back. It’s quite unfortunate for a game with this great a setting to have such a low player base and no ongoing dev support. Ultimately, Arkanefailed to deliver the promisedRedfallDLC even a year after its release, and it’s good that gamers are finally receiving a refund for it.

However, there is a silver lining for diehardRedfallfans. Arcane did not completely abandon the game, as evident by the launch of thefinal update forRedfallin late May. This update made sure thatRedfallstays playable even without any ongoing development. The offline mode that many players wanted was added in the update, along with several story mode elements. The game servers will remain open if players want a co-op experience.
