A funny clip posted online has shown aRed Dead Onlineplayer being on the receiving end of instant karma after a cruel in-game act. The world ofRed Dead Onlinecan certainly be a treacherous place to explore, but this player was certainly left surprised in this particular situation.
Red Dead Onlinewas popular upon its release, although many feel that it never received the attention it needed or deserved from Rockstar to become a true success. It was reported thatlate-2022 would see a winding down ofRed Dead Onlinecontent, and unfortunately that seems to have been the case so far this year. With the enduring financial success ofGTA Online, it’s understandable that the company would continue to work on the more successful game, but for fans of the Western title, it’s been a tough few years to watch.

The clip from Redditor CallMeLionheart sees them get an instant taste of their own medicine. It begins with the player killing a defenseless muskrat, but escalates quickly when they’re instantly charged down and struck to the ground by a deer, before being sent flying away.Red Dead Onlineis filled with plenty of dangerous animalsthat players are able to come across, but a deer isn’t what would typically come to mind in this scenario.
Most in the thread were at the very least sympathetic toward the player, with muskrats providing a nuisance in the game by being able to bite any player on foot. Another player made the suggestion for a mod that makes muskrats the size of cougars, which would certainly make them a bigger threat to players. There are plenty ofRed Dead Redemption 2modsout there that change how players interact with Rockstar’s incredible game world, but unfortunately they’re not able to be used in the online portion of the game due to the potential for hackers to gain an unfair advantage, which is certainly understandable.
The future of the game remains uncertain. WhileRed Dead Onlineretains a dedicated roleplaying community, which makes up a bulk of the people still playing, it might not be enough to keep the game active untilRed Dead Redemption 3is released, especially with Rockstar’s general neglect of the title. While nothing is confirmed, with the ongoing development ofGTA6and Rockstar’s current development times, there’s a very real possibility that gamers don’t seeRed Dead Redemption 3until the 2030s, and by that time it’s hard to imagineRed Dead Onlinehaving such a strong community. Hopefully the developer reconsiders its current stance on new content for the game, and gives it the attention it deserves.
Red Dead Onlineis currently available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
