For one fan, Tom Lacey, this involved building his very own life-like replica of Clank, the titular robot, and deuteragonist of the game series. Lacey has been working on the Clank replica for many months now, and he was finally able to finish it after some time and hard work. Lacey recently showed off the finished product of the Clank replica, and it looks very much like the character was lifted straight from the games into real life. Lacey was able to get virtually every detail of the calculating robot down to extreme detail. Everything from Clank’s head, his robot eyes, the shape of his body, and everything else was made on point.
Lacey tweeted a series of photos of the finished Clank replica online to show off the model in full detail and even tagged in thePS5 exclusiveRatchet & Clankgame. He even included a photo of the Clank replica with his pet cat to give a sense of scale for the replica’s size. Among the tweets, Lacey also included some information on how he made the Clank replica.
According to the tweets, Lacey made the Clank replica after many months of 3D printing, sanding, and painting the model. Lacey sanded the replica’s parts, filled them using spray putty, and painted it with mostly Alclad chrome paint with an airbrush. He mentioned that the model wasn’t based on anyspecific games in theRatchet & Clankseriessince the character’s design has undergone various changes over the years.
Lacey initially had some difficulty with designing the replica’s eyes but ended up going with a clear resin paint and painted them green with transparent Alclad chrome. He also added the honeycomb pattern to the eyes, something similarly used in Clank’s design in recentRatchet & Clankgames.
Lacey ended the thread with a tweet thanking everyone who helped out. He also thanked Insomniac for discovering his work-in-progress tweets, and he ended it by sharing his excitement for thecritically acclaimedRatchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
