Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has announced thatLike a Dragon 8will feature franchise mega fan and prominent VTuber star Kson as an in-game character. One of the core elements of Sega’s long-running franchise is how many characters are modeled after their actors. This can be seen with their realistic faces, where theLike a Dragonseries has featured professional wrestlers, adult video stars, and other actors in the auxiliary cast of these games. The cabaret hostesses are no exception, where many of them, especially in the more recent titles, have also been modeled by some notable names.Last year, there were auditions being put out regarding bothLike a Dragon Gaidenand the eighth mainline game, where Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio was casting for some in-game hostesses, asGaidenwill be featuring the return of the Cabaret Club minigame. Earlier this year, fans learned ofthe finalists ofLike a Dragon Gaiden’s hostess audition, where five ladies were all selected and will be featured in the game as a hostess. Of these five included a prominent VTuber star, Ksononair, or Kson. There was a second round after these auditions, known as the “Grand Prix,” which would determine who of the five would become an in-game character forLaD 8, with the results officially declaring Kson as the winner.RELATED:More News on Like a Dragon 8 and Like a Dragon Gaiden Could Be Coming SoonThis was announced during a livestream on the developer’s official YouTube channel, where Kson was also competing with Ayu, Ai Kaname, Ai Sayama, and Kokoro Nakayama for the role. The winner was decided by votes amongRyu Ga Gotoku Studio’s staff, which totaled around 143. Among her fellow competitors, Kson won with 35 votes, while Nakayama had 33, and Sayama had 30, the voting process being down to the wire.
For those unaware, Kson is a prominent American-Japanese livestreaming personality, who does both on-camera and Vtube streaming. She’s a massive mega fan of the franchise, with her having cited Kazuma Kiryu as her husband on more than one occasion. She’s also such aninfluential figure in the VTuber space, having been a part of Hololive and VShojo agencies as different personalities, which resulted in her massive fanbase in both the East and West.
Many fans exploded with happiness and congratulated Kson for successfully accomplishing her dream of not only being an in-game hostess inGaiden, but also going two-for-two and end up winning the grand prize to be inLike a Dragon 8. Many are hoping that Kson and her avatar will be a part of a VTubing substory in the game.
Like a Dragon 8will release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in 2024.
