Not everyone was particularly thrilled when the latest playable character to join the roster ofPokemon Uniteturned out to be Greedent, a relatively common Normal type fromPokemon Sword & Shield’s Galar region. As if to counterbalance this, it looks like the next playable Pokemon is a far more popular choice.

Recently, the officialPokemon UniteTwitter account shared an image that is undoubtedly a hint towards the next playable character. It depicts several green, red, and white feather shaped arrows firing downwards. Between the picture and the accompanying comment, it’s pretty obvious to anyPokemonfan that the newest character will be Decidueye.

A dual Grass/Ghost type, Decidueye comes from the Alola region, the setting ofPokemon Sun & Moonon the Nintendo 3DS. It’s the final evolution of Rowlet, one of the three starter Pokemon from those games, making Decidueye the seventh playable starter inPokemon Unitealongside Pikachu, Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Greninja, and Cinderace.

Decidueye seems to be one of Generation 7’s most popular Pokemon. It was one of the new additions toPokken Tournament DX, the enhanced re-release of fighting gamePokken Tournament, and was apparently in the running to be included inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate. However, it ultimately lost out to Incineroar, the final evolution ofPokemon Sun & Moon’s Fire starter Litten.

When Decidueye will be added to the game and how it will play is completely unknown for the time being.Pokemon Uniteis receiving a patch on November 10th, perhaps to prepare for Decidueye’s inclusion. At the very least, fans can probably expect Decidueye to arrive later this month or in December. Although considering Decidueye’s part Ghost typing, one would think it would’ve made more sense to add it to the game during the Halloween event.

Decidueye’s inclusion will bring the total roster up to 27 and withPokemon Uniteonly about to start its second season of content, there are still likely even more playable Pokemon in the works. The MOBA is also now widely available on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices and, since its controversial yet still popular launch earlier in the year, changes have been made to dilute the pay-to-win elements, which was a common complaint from players.

That said,Pokemon Uniteplayers have since found new issues with the game. Perhaps the most prominent example is the addition ofcosmetics for the playable Pokemon that cost $40. While the game is free-to-play, many take umbrage with these costumes being as expensive as some full priced games.

Pokemon Uniteis available on Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch.
