InPokemon SwordandShield, trainers return to the series to explore the Galar region, Game Freak’s take on Great Britain. Generation 8 hasintroduced many changes, quality-of-life or otherwise, while keeping the core elements of the games that trainers know and love. In this regard, many old Pokemon from previous generations return with their old designs or sporting a glorious new regional variant.  One of these familiar Pokemon is Corsola which has a spooky new Galarian appearance and other surprises in store.

Corsola was first introduced in Generation 2 as a Johto region native. It would go on to make appearances in fifth season of the Pokemon anime, being caught by Misty and used in several major battles. Normally a Water/Rock-type,the Galarian variant was subjected to a mass extinction via climate changefrom a meteor impact creating the Ghost-type Corsola in Generation 8. However, those experiences have only made Galarian Corsola more frightening in battle as it has access to iconic Ghost-type moves such as Curse and even a new evolution when reaching Level 38. Additionally, through great effort, trainers can obtain a Galarian Corsola with the hidden ability Cursed Body, which has a thirty-percent chance to disable a damaging move used on the Pokemon for 4 turns.

Trainers should first note that Galarian Corsola is a Shield version exclusive. Those with a copy ofPokemon Swordwill need to find and trade with aPokemon Shieldowner to obtain the Coral Pokemon. On that topic, simply catching a Corsola in the wild won’t work because it will always have the ability Weak Armor instead of the Cursed Body that trainers are looking for. Instead, trainers will need to play through Max Raid Battles at the Giant’s Mirror section of the Wild Area to have a chance at spawning Corsola’s evolved form, Cursola, with the hidden ability Perish Body.

Be aware that the Raid Battle needs to be 4-star or 5-star to run into a Perish Body Cursola, and even then it could still have Weak Armor instead. Afterward, Cursola needs to breed with another Pokemon, preferably Ditto, in order to produce a Cursed Body Corsola but that might take several hatched eggs too.

In the end,Pokemon SwordandShieldtrainers should realize that getting a Galaraian Corsola with Cursed Body isn’t the simplest task when compared to playing through the story. However, the effort and grinding is indicative of similar or longer challenges such as hatching a shiny Pokemon orfinding a 6 IV Ditto. But on the quest to become a competitive Pokemon master, this is a good start to ease trainers into the endgame.
