Sentret and Furret are both Normal-type Pokemon that made their debut back inPokemon GoldandPokemon Silver. Although they’re as common as Rattata, they didn’t return forPokemon SwordandPokemon Shield, or the base game ofPokemon ScarletandPokemon Violet. Getting a Sentret or Furret requires the purchase ofScarlet/Violet’s DLC Expansion Pack.

In the first part of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, The Teal Mask,Scarlet/Violetplayers can find Sentret and Furret in Kitakami. Before they can go to Kitakami, players will need to have started the Treasure Hunt in the main game. As part of the Kitakami Pokedex, players will need to catch them to fill out the dex pages.

How to Get Sentret

InPokemon Scarlet&Violet, Sentret can be found as early asApple Hills. This is the first location on thewest path from Mossui Townin theKitakami Region. If this isthe player’s first time arriving in Kitakami, they’ll be sent to Mossui Town before they can explore anywhere else. After some cutscenes and establishing a base of operations, players will be sent on a mission to find several signposts that detail the history of Kitakami. The first signpost is past Apple Hills, so players can catch a Sentret along the way.

Sentret can be seen hiding by the apple trees. They shouldn’t flee from trainers, buttheir level will depend on the player’s progress in the main story. If players are starting The Teal Mask during the postgame, then Sentret will belevel 60. Therefore, players will want to bring a strong Pokemon in case the first catch fails.

Quick Ballsare generally recommended for catching Pokemon, as they have a 4x catch rate when used on thefirst turn. If this isn’t an option, then use Nest Balls (if the Sentret is low-level) or catch it the old-fashioned way: Battling it.As a Normal-type Pokemon, Sentret isimmune to Ghost-type Attacks, butsuper weak to Fighting-type Attacks. Avoid using a physical Fighting-type move, as Sentret’s base Defense is extremely poor. It may be better to just inflict a status ailment.

How to Evolve Sentret

Thankfully, for those that want Furret, Sentret will evolve once it reacheslevel 15. Players can use it in battle or have it in the party for it to gain Experience. Alternatively, they can feed it an Exp Candy or Rare Candy. One piece of Exp. Candy M should be enough to get it to the level it needs to be. If players caught alevel 60 Sentret, then it only needs to grow one level to evolve.

Once it becomes Furret, it will want to learn the moveAgility. This willsharply increase the user’s Speed in battle. Furret itself is a speedy Pokemon, with a base Speed of 90. Despite this,it can still be outraced by faster opponents. Players should decide whether they want to make room for Agility, or if Furret’s better off without.

Where to Catch Furret

Those that want to skip the hassle of catching and evolving Sentret are in luck. On theeast path from Mossui Town, players will findReveler’s Road. Players will eventually have to go through Reveler’s Road to find the second signpost.

Furret will walk near the path of Reveler’s Road, and it isn’t shy around strangers, either. It’s likely that it will walk up to the player’s character, eliminating the need to go searching for it.Furret is also not an aggressive Pokemon, so it won’t engage in battle unless players accidentally bump into it.

Since it’s evolved, Furret has higher stats than its pre-evolved form. It has a stronger base Defense than Sentret, but its Special Defense is still poor. If a Quick Ball fails, trainers are going to need to chip away at its health and avoid knocking it out. As mentioned, Furret’s a speedy Pokemon, and most of its offense moves are physical Normal-type moves. Thus, it’s best to avoid pitting it against a slow Pokemon with weak Defense.

With a base stat total of 415, Furret is far from the greatest Pokemon, but that shouldn’t prevent trainers from using it in battle. Despite its Normal-typing, Furret can learn a variety of moves via TMs, such as Thunderbolt. As with any other Pokemon, a Furret usinga move that doesn’t match its Typingwill not generate Same Type Attack Bonus (STAB). So, if players want to dish out the most damage with Furret, they’ll want to have a Normal-type move or two in its Moveset.
