APokemonfan and artist is observing the month of May by drawing daily pictures of May, the Pokemon trainer that shares the same name of the month, and sharing their work on social media. With each daily contribution,Pokemonfans praised the artist for their work and shared their favorite moments from thePokemonanime that featured May.
In the main series ofPokemongames, May was one of the default names for the female player character inPokemon Ruby and Sapphirefor the Game Boy Advance, as well as its 3DS remakesPokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. In the anime, May’s design largely remained the same as in the GBA games, with her trusty Torchic as her starter Pokemon. She and her brother Max joined Ash Ketchum and Brock on their adventures throughout Hoenn, andshe took part in Pokemon contests along the wayas part of her goal to become a top coordinator. To celebrate the month that shares her name, one fan made some art that featured May in different situations.

On Reddit, a user named 0takuman76 posted 10 pictures of May on the r/Pokemon subreddit, one for each day at the time of writing. In each picture, May was joined by her team ofPokemon such as Munchlaxas well as various Gym Leaders from the series. Starting with the second picture, the OP’s art featured May exploring different regions of thePokemonworld, such as sharing a meal with Elesa and Skyla in Unova’s Castelia City. This continued in the order that each region first appeared in the series, and the date that each picture was posted was hidden in each piece. This pattern continued until the tenth picture of the slate. In the tenth drawing, May visited Ash’s house and was greeted by his mother and Mr. Mime as they were tending the garden.
In the comments, users praised the OP for the clever situations that May was placed in with each drawing, while some made some puns involving May’s name. One user also stated that May wasone of their favorite companionsfrom thePokemonanime alongside Misty. Since there are still three weeks to go in the month, it remains to be seen what 0takuman76 will post next.
ThoughMay’s time in the spotlighthas come and gone, fan art fromPokemonfans continues to ensure that she and Ash’s other companions remain prominent. Though Ash himself has not been confirmed to appear afterPokemon Journeys, only time will tell if he and his friends will return.
