Among the plethora of oddities sold by the Japanese video game company over the years, some nostalgic gamers have fond memories of the Game Boy Printer for the Game Boy andGame Boy Color.

As the name suggests, the Game Boy Printer was a device that allowed gamers to print off media from a selection of compatible Gameboy andGame Boy Color games. In addition, it could take advantage of the Game Boy Camera to print pictures taken on the handheld system. Recently, one Nintendo fan decided to put this odd accessory to good use.

In a post on Reddit, a user known as twuffli shared a collection of pictures of an unusual gaming accessory they owned. According to the creator, they had hooked up a Game Boy Printer to their Game Boy Color. However, they were using this printer for a specific purpose; they wanted to prove that they had completed thePokedex for Gen 1. Using the accessory, they printed off a diploma recognizing the accomplishment. In addition, the slip of paper had images of Pikachu and Mewtwo and showed the play time for the save file at the bottom. When all was said and done, it had taken the gamer 36 hours and 44 minutes to finish collecting all 151 Pokemon.

In addition to showing off the certificate, twuffli gave some background behind the Game Boy Printer they used with theirGame Boy Color. According to the gamer, the printer was thermal, meaning no ink was required to print pictures. However, they noted that only a specific size of paper would fit in the accessory. Fortunately, they had found a seller online to purchase it at a relatively affordable price.

Unsurprisingly, this unusual accessory caught the attention of numerous members of thePokemoncommunity on Reddit. With over 1.8K views in less than a day, many were impressed that the player had managed to complete the Pokedex. Some even commented that the player should make a frame for the certificate and laminate it. Others were amazed to see someone still using a Game Boy Printer. “So that’s what one of those looks like,” MaleficTekX said on Reddit.

Besides this cool Pokedex certificate, other players have posted some interesting findings fromPokemonas well. For example, one player recently collected arare Charmander card and drew a realistic versionof it with colored pencils.
