Summary

A talentedPokemonfan has decided to put their welding skills to good use by crafting the entire Dratini evolution line completely out of bike chains. The rather unusual medium has caught the eye of quite a fewPokemonfans, and is the latest example of the incredibly diverse fan art thePokemonfandom has come up with.

Introduced as part of the very first generation ofPokemon, Dratini is a Dragon-type which is notoriously on the difficult side to raise, as it doesn’t evolve into Dragonair until level 40. However, its final evolution, Dragonite, is the original pseudo-legendary, and still remains a powerful Pokemon to this day.Pokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers can catch Dratiniprimarily in Casseroya Lake, or later-stage players can try nabbing a Dragonite around the peninsula northeast of Levincia.

The impressive trio ofPokemonmodels comes from the aptly-named Reddit user PokeWelder-Zach, who posted their creations to one of the site’s mainPokemonforums. The post includes a series of images, first of the entire evolution line of Dratini, Dragonair, andthe disjunctly-designed Dragonite, followed by individual shots of each. Each of the welded bike chains manage to capture the basic features which make the Pokemon identifiable, along with accurate coats of paint. The Dragonair is arguably the most accurate representative, with its serpentine body complimentary towards the medium.

The Dratini line seems to have had a spike in popularity lately, as quite a few fans' art projects have centered around it. While PokeWelder-Zach discovered what it would look like in bike chain form, anotherPokemonfan created what Dratini, Dragonair, andDragonite would be in human form. The forms retain each Pokemon’s color palette like the bike chain builds above, but are quite diverse in clothing.

While bike chains are a seemingly random material to use to createPokemonart, the medium makes a bit of sense when considering the newLoyal Three and their Toxic Chain abilityinPokemon Scarlet and Violet’sTeal MaskDLC. The trio of powerful Pokemon’s new ability has a chance to activate when attacking an opponent, and badly poisons them when it does. The Pokemon’s ties to chains could make them the perfect candidates for the artist’s nextPokemonbike chain project.
